As the 52nd World Heritage Site in China, Xiamen Gulangyu Island has always been very popular, attracting countless tourists with its literature, literature, retro, rambling and unique Minnan culture. This garden was originally the private villa of the local gentleman Lin Erjia, and the owner of the garden named the garden after the harmonic sound of his word "Shu Zang", with white water and ocean scenery, the reef of the volcanic island, and the beauty of the alpine meadow of Rabbit Ear Ridge. It was dedicated to the park in 1955.

When it was built in that year, Shuzhuang Garden was built with reference to the famous garden in Jiangnan and named "Shuzhuang". In the garden, there are ten scenes such as Meishou Hall, Nongqiu Pavilion, Zhenli Pavilion, Forty-Four Bridges, Tinglang Pavilion, Gluttonous Mountain House, Twelve Cave Heavens, Yi Ai Wu Lu, Guan Chao Lou, Xiao Lan Pavilion, etc., which are small and chic and have their own style.
Today's Shuzhuang Garden is one of the great attractions of Gulangyu Island, it is not only a seaside garden, but also a piano museum (location, Tingtaoxuan in the garden). It houses a collection of some of the world's most famous ancient pianos. When I came here, I finally understood why Gulangyu Island still has the reputation of "Qin Island". The ancient pianos on display in it are all collected by Mr. Hu Youyi, a collector in Macao, throughout his life.
The pianos here are not only historic and diverse, but also peculiar. Among the ancient pianos on display are the American-made "Stawell" in the first half of the nineteenth century, the "Bosendorfer" in Austria, and the royal piano dedicated to the German royal family. There are also rare and rare gold pianos, the world's earliest quadrilateral piano, the largest upright piano, the oldest hand piano, a foot automatic piano, an eight-foot four-string piano and so on.
Amazingly, many of the pianos here have survived two major wars, and the candlestick lamps as decorations are more than a hundred years old. Walking into Tingtaoxuan and visiting the Piano Museum once can be said to be equivalent to browsing the history of piano development in the world. Because of it, Gulangyu Island "QinDao" lives up to its name. Such a museum is unique in our country.
Hu Youyi, a famous Australian "pianist". Born in 1936 in Gulangyu Island, his ancestral home is Yongding, Fujian. He has been associated with music since he was a child, and he regards collecting pianos as part of his life, collecting more than 100 ancient pianos around the world. When he learned that the Gulangyu District Government wanted to take the development and construction of music culture as a major measure for urban construction and tourism development, he had the determination to return to his hometown with art.
On January 8, 2000, China's first and rare Gulangyu Piano Museum in the world was established in the beautiful Shuzhuang Garden "Tingtaoxuan". For Hu Youyi, the piano is like his child, and Gulangyu Island is the cradle of his life. "Putting a treasured piano on Gulangyu Island is like taking something you love home, which is always reassuring." As a result, he became the founder of China's first piano museum.
Walking here, whether you understand the piano or not, whether you can play the piano or not, I believe that every tourist will be touched by the old gentleman's lifelong piano fate and lifelong nostalgia. While admiring these ancient pianos, you will also hear the melodious sound of the pianos in your ears. It is said to be a 1928 American-made, expensive fully automatic "Henas" famous piano, using a roll of perforated guqin scores to realistically play the works of Beethoven, Chopin and Brahms, which became the background music of the museum.
When I walked out of the Piano Museum and stood at the door of Tingtaoxuan, I couldn't help but find that the melodious piano song was so in line with the sound of the gulangyu island.
