Such creatures are rarely noticed, even by veteran divers.
The upper end of the tube worm is a feathery tentacle, and the lower end is a straight white mineral tube, which retracts back into the tube when there is any wind and grass.
Tubeworms are likely to be among the longest-lived animals, and scientists estimate that some individuals may have lived to be 250 years old.
