Since 1956, Gu Has participated in the research and development of China's first self-designed jet aircraft, and has served as the chief designer of the J-8 and J-8II aircraft. In December 1979, the J-8 aircraft, which represented a milestone in China's aircraft manufacturing, completed the design and finalization work, and Gu Shufen was known as the "father of the J-8".
