During the Shanghai International Art Trade Month, Shanghai has a strong artistic atmosphere. The inaugural design miami/podium x shanghai design exhibition was unveiled at Bund One. This is also the first time that this global exhibition in the field of collector's design has come to Asia and landed on the Bund Source One in Shanghai.
design miami/ is a sister exhibition of Art Basel, founded in 2005. Every year, the exhibition attracts influential collectors, designers and design studios, artists, brands, galleries, cultural institutions, curators, patrons and other influential collectors in the industry, maintaining hundreds of millions of attention.
At this design exhibition, hantang culture co-organizers joined hands with design miami/, made in house to create design miami/ the first collector's design event in Asia, inviting 30 art galleries and exhibitors around the world to present more than 150 collectible design treasures around the theme of "Sense of Things: The Art of Design".
Located at No. 33 Zhongshan East 1st Road, "Bund Source No. 1" was built in 1849 as the British Consulate General in Shanghai, and is also one of the earliest and most complete existing buildings on the Bund, and is listed as a "National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit". The 3,000-square-metre two-storey main building is in the Style of the English Renaissance with 12 displays, multi-purpose spaces and 2 outdoor terraces and galleries.
During the exhibition, echoing the resident collections in the architectural space, 5 gallery booths and 25 podium exhibitors brought international collection-level design selections: a number of works from global contemporary art and design practitioners such as Jean Prouvé, Thomas Heatherwick, Daniel Arsham, Virgil Abloh, as well as Chinese artists such as Ding Yi and Xu Zhen, and young artists such as Lin Fanglu, Bao Yang and Liu Wa.
Century-old architecture, resident collections and collectible design works, presenting an artistic dialogue between the present and the past, between China and the outside, and between design and collection. The exhibition will be on view until November 14.
