Zhaoqing Bridge expansion project starts from Yandu Avenue, Duanzhou District, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, after crossing the Xijiang River, the end point is Connected to Ziyun Avenue in Gaoyao District, with a total length of 4315 meters, a bridge width of 19.25 meters, the expansion project is close to the upstream side of Zhaoqing Bridge, using a first-class highway combined with urban expressway standard construction.

It is reported that the construction of the project lasted 1428 days, which is one of the most difficult and most arduous projects in Zhaoqing City in recent years. The project is located in the karst karst zone, after the early geological exploration found that the site karst development is extremely strong (69.7% of the hole encounter rate), intricate, and covered with thick sand layer, it is very easy to collapse geology, the surrounding old bridges, houses are dense, the safety and stability requirements of the pile foundation construction process are extremely high.
In order to solve this construction difficulty, Liu Zhenfa, project manager of China Construction Science and Technology, said that the project carefully studied the construction plan, held expert demonstration meetings many times, did not hesitate to build costs, exchanged time for safety, adopted a more stable construction plan, and regularly observed the settlement of the adjacent old bridge and surrounding houses, which lasted nearly four years, and finally completed all pile foundation construction safely and smoothly. In addition, the project also overcomes the impact of uncertainties such as strong typhoons such as "Tiange" and "Mangkhut", the new crown pneumonia epidemic, and the once-in-a-century flood, and solves the high-risk construction problems such as the construction of the cast-in-place box girder of the cantilever "across the embankment and the cast-in-place operation of the 50-meter ultra-high bracket in the water" with technological innovation, ensuring the safety and quality goals of the project's full-cycle construction and laying a solid foundation for the successful completion of the project.
As the "east gate" of Zhaoqing, the Zhaoqing Bridge Expansion Project connects The Duanzhou District of Zhaoqing and Gaoyao District, is an important part of zhaoqing city's construction of a "ten horizontal and eight vertical" traffic artery, and is also an important entrance and exit for Zhaoqing city to connect with the Pearl River Delta road network. After the completion of the project, it can effectively alleviate the traffic pressure of the Xijiang Bridge and the Yuejiang Bridge, strengthen the docking of Zhaoqing with the core cities of the Pearl River Delta such as Foshan and Guangzhou, and is of great strategic significance for Zhaoqing's deep integration into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
