The first species, The Pacific Cod/Gadus macrocephalus, is marked in supermarkets as "Alaskan Real Cod", which is also of this species, as shown on the left side of Figure 1. The second species, Atlantic Cod/Gadus morhua, is an internationally recognized cod figure, and the "Norwegian Arctic Cod" in the supermarket is it, as shown on the right side of Figure 1. From the perspective of traditional classification, there are only three kinds of real cod, and the rest are considered to be false. But now the cod genus has changed from three species to four, simply "minus one plus two". The independent species status of greenland cod/Gadus ogac has been deposed and merged with Pacific cod/Gadus macrocephalus, which means that the "big-headed fish" produced on the doorstep of Qingdao people and the Greenland cod from the Arctic are essentially the same thing.

So, what is "plus two"? The Norwegian cod and the yellow-lined cod/Gadus chalcogramma, which originally belonged to the genus Narrow Cod, were classified into the genus Cod because, according to new research, they are more closely related to the cod genus. The Norwegian narrow cod is rarely seen, omitted, but the yellow-lined narrow cod is very famous and common.

Yellow-lined cod/Gadus chalcogramma, the "Mingtai fish" that Korean or Northeastern people love to eat, is sometimes called "Alaskan cod" in supermarkets, and more often appears as a "headless fish corpse", so much so that some people rumor that the fish's head is poisonous or has too many parasites... Born in Japan in the 1970s, the appearance and taste of this object imitate the crab leg meat of the "snow crab" (chionoecetes opilio) or "tall crab" (Gan's giant crab / Macrocheira kaempferi), the real meat component usually comes from white sea fish meat, the most commonly used is the yellow line narrow cod. With the exception of the Norwegian narrow cod, species of the cod family Are introduced. In fact, the taste of cod is light, the flavor is not strong, and it does not conform to the eating habits of Chinese.
