Hunan released 389 million fish This year, a total ban on fishing in 44 protected areas began

Changsha, June 6 (Xinhua) -- June 6 is the third "National Fish Release Day" determined by the Ministry of Agriculture of China, and 62 counties and municipalities in Hunan have stocked a total of 389 million fingerlings into natural waters. The reporter learned from the Fishery Administration Department of the Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Bureau of Hunan Province that from this year, Hunan will implement a comprehensive ban on fishing in 5 nature reserves and 39 national and provincial aquatic germplasm resources conservation areas, and by 2018, all fishermen in the protected areas will withdraw, so as to achieve a permanent year-round ban on productive fishing operations within the province's aquatic biological protection area.

At the scene of the fish release activity held in Changsha Orange Island Park on the same day, representatives from the Hunan Provincial Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Bureau and other units, together with environmental protection volunteers and tourists, put 38.5 million high-quality fish fry and fish species into the Xiangjiang River, including many rare aquatic organisms under national key protection such as rouge, Xianghua mud carp, and dorsal tumor clams. It is reported that this year, Hunan plans to release a total of 830 million fish.

Artificial breeding and stocking of fish is an important measure to conserve aquatic biological resources, restore fishery resources and protect the ecological environment. Since the first stocking and spring fishing ban in 2002, Hunan has carried out stocking activities for 16 consecutive years. On April 1, 2016, some waters of the Changsha section of the Xiangjiang River and its seven tributaries began to implement a perennial fishing ban, and at the same time, fishermen in the waters under their jurisdiction were started to change production and business.

Dai Jianwen, deputy secretary general of the Changsha Municipal Government, said that at present, 650 fishermen and 1296 people in the city have completed the conversion of production ashore, disposed of 650 fishing boats and 59 barges, and the municipal and district finances have arranged for fishermen to transfer production and business with a cost of 270 million yuan. In order to strengthen the management of perennial fishing ban waters, changsha fishery administration department has implemented a 24-hour duty system, and this year has dispatched 2287 law enforcement personnel, carried out 46 joint law enforcement inspections, filed 10 cases, closed 9 cases, and imposed administrative penalties on 9 people.

With the continuous advancement of various protection measures, the water environment in Hunan has improved significantly, and fishery resources have shown a steady upward trend. Monitoring data show that in 2016, 220 million fry fingerlings (grains) were released in the Xiangjiang River Basin, of which 590 groups of "four major fish" parents and 120 million fry were fry, and the contribution rate of "four major fish" in xiangyin-Chenglingji waters reached 3.03%,; 146 million fish fry fingerlings were released in Dongting Lake area, contributing 1.65% to the fish resources of Dongting Lake. In addition, the silver carp released from Dongting Lake also transferred and consumed 97.60 tons of nitrogen and 26.35 tons of phosphorus in the water body, achieving better ecological benefits.
