The musical "An American in Paris" will tour China

On the morning of May 15th, the launching ceremony of the Chinese tour of the musical "An American in Paris" was launched at the Nanjing Poly Grand Theater, and Guo Wenpeng, deputy general manager of Poly Culture Group Co., Ltd., secretary of the party committee, chairman and general manager of Beijing Poly Theater Management Co., Ltd., Simone genatt, producer of Broadway Asia, rayan steele of musical, heroine Leanne Cope, as well as representatives of Poly Theater and other starring and main creators attended the press conference. The tour will kick off on June 12 at the Nanjing Poly Grand Theater and will be held in Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Beijing and Zhengzhou.

The musical brings together partners from France, China and the United States to bring together a team of talented actors from Broadway and the West End. As a co-producer of the West End edition in London, Poly Group participated in the production of the multi-award winning version of the Dominion Theatre in London.

It is reported that the Broadway musical "An American in Paris" originated from a symphonic poem by composer Gershwin. In 1928, the composer Georges Gershwin, who was on vacation in Paris, composed the orchestral symphonic poem "An American in Paris". The song premiered at the New York Philharmonic.

The musical pays tribute to composer Gershwin, the soundtrack is all based on Gershwin's repertoire, the arrangement won the Tony Award for Best Arrangement, and was nominated for the Grammy For Best Musical Theater Album. The dance form of the musical continues Gershwin's original "ballet rhapsody", and the musical adopts the dance form of ballet.

The musical was directed and choreographed by Christopher Wilton, Set and Costume Design by Bob Crowley, Lighting Design by Natasha Katz, and Projection and Image Design by 59 Productions. Starring the original heroine, British Royal Ballet soloist Leanne Cope. The New York Times commented that the show "perfectly combines romance, love, and song and dance."
