The "Yang family general" should be the most well-known military family in history, and there is no one. Yang Liulang was the second generation leader of the Yang family general, and the first generation of leadership was his father Yang Jiye.

The third explanation is that during the Tang and Song dynasties, the common people always called handsome men "Liu Lang". Yang Yanzhao was handsome, so he was named Liu Lang.

Regarding Yang Liulang's marriage, it is described in the opera as follows: Yang Liulang married the lord of Cheshire, gave birth to a son Yang Zongbao, Yang Zongbao married his wife Mu Guiying, and Mu Guiying gave birth to a son Yang Wenguang. In history, there were no three people, Yang Zongbao, Mu Guiying, and Cheshire Lord! Yang Wenguang does exist, but not Yang Liulang's grandson, but his own son.

Yang Liulang was born as a general, and he was a good fighter, but he did not understand literature and ink. Although the official position was not high, Yang Liulang's military achievements were quite a lot. The "History of Song" says that Yang Yanzhao guarded the frontier for more than twenty years, "The Khitan was worried about it, and his purpose was Yang Liulang." The people of Liao were afraid of him and did not dare to call him by his first name, but only dared to call him "Yang Liulang."

In the modern popular "Yang Family General" story, the common people call Yang Shilang Yang Yanlang, and Yang Liulang called Yang Yanzhao. But historically, Both Yanlang and Yanzhao were yang liulang's names.

Yang Liulang, whose real name was Yang Yanlang, followed his father as a teenager and served the Northern Han Dynasty. Later, the Northern Han Dynasty surrendered to the Song Dynasty. At that time, the emperors of the Song Dynasty revered Taoism and offered the legendary Taoist priest Zhao Xuanlang as their ancestors. In order to avoid the name of the emperor's ancestors, Yang Yanlang changed his name to Yang Yanzhao.
