Millennium Taiping Pagoda, the oldest pagoda in Anhui

------------------------------------

Like many people who come and go, how many times I pass in front of the Taiping Pagoda, but rarely stop to listen to its history, so that when a friend asks me about the allusion to the Taiping Pagoda, I suddenly seem incoherent and cannot answer at all.

On the small hill to the east of the intersection of National Highway 105 and Hejiu Railway Bridge, it is the location of the Qianshan City Museum, and the Taiping Pagoda is hidden in this seemingly dense jungle, which is a national key cultural relics protection unit.

The exact location of the Taiping Pagoda should be east of the qianshan city museum courtyard, according to the "Qianshan County Chronicle", the pagoda was built in the Xianhe period of the Jin Dynasty (326-334), as the dojo of the Shuzhou Taiping Huiqin Buddhist Zen master, and is a brick and wood stupa. The original Buddhist buildings such as the Zhenwu Hall, the Jade Emperor Pavilion, the Temple and the Shihua Table around the pagoda have now been completely destroyed, and the existing brick pagoda consists only of abutment, tower body, eaves and pagoda brakes, standing on a brick base. The plan of the building is octagonal, the ground floor is about 38 meters long, and the tower body is about 35 meters high to the top. The whole brick tower imitates the wooden structure, the cornice is soaring, the wind is eager to wing, and the visual effect of "ten thousand points flying" is pursued. For the Taiping Pagoda, it has experienced several tests of military disabilities, earthquakes, and wind disasters. Although the tower is slightly inclined to the southeast, due to the precise design, solid structure, and timely maintenance, it still stands majestically today, which fully reflects the superb architectural standards of ancient China.

Looking up, the wind chimes ringing through the ancient pagoda continuously, as if telling the long-sealed thousand-year legendary history, carefully reading some of the vague inscriptions under the tower after weathering, perhaps reminiscent of the Taiping Pagoda once incense was at its peak, close your eyes, the scene seems to be immediately presented in front of you.

It is said that the construction technology of the Taiping Pagoda is particularly elaborate. The interior of the tower is an empty cylinder structure, and each room has a staircase, which can be "rotated from the inside, rotated from the outside, and climbed to the top". There are nearly a thousand Buddha statues in the tower room, sitting in it, which is a rare fine product in China's statue art. The top of the tower is the tower brake, which is composed of a jewel, a phase wheel, a lotus-style bowl from top to bottom, etc., which is vivid and adds exquisite beauty to the architectural style of the whole tower. The exterior of the ancient tower is made of seven layers of dense eaves, which are made of green bricks, and between the bricks, there are mortise and grooves, and the barriers are tightly closed and abnormally strong. Above the second floor of the tower began to decrease and adduction, each floor was stacked with brick eaves, surrounded by a cloister, and opened arch gates on each side, but there were blind doors or false doors in the layers, but the bright places could be overlooked.

In the scenic area of the Taiping Pagoda, there is also the exhibition hall of Cheng Changgeng, the founder of Peking Opera, and the modern literary master Mr. Zhang Hexhui, which displays his pens, seals and other relics, as well as works, manuscripts and letters published in various periods, as well as inscriptions, paintings and research monographs by Sun Qimeng, Lin Moran, Zhang Youyu, Zhao Chaoju, Gao Zhanxiang, Jiang Weiguo, Chen Lifu and other well-known people at home and abroad. In order to commemorate Mr. Zhang Hexhui, under the tower, Zhang Hexhui's former residence and Xinyuan Pavilion, lotus pond, inscription stele forest and so on were imitated according to the original appearance.

Taiping Ancient Pagoda, a monument of history, a rare treasure house highlighting ancient and modern culture.
