End of 2016 Madagascar Expedition (3) Ankanara Stone Forest (Strange Snail)

author:Entomology liuye

Departing from Amber Mountain, we head to the Ankanara Stone Forest Nature Reserve to investigate. Along the way, I saw a lot of chameleons crossing the road randomly, which was also too dangerous. The picture below is a carpet avoidance of jaywalking. It seems that the soil under its feet is not in the wild, but in the field. Yes, this is the terrible road of the Falklands, potholes, not as good as dirt roads. Obviously, it takes an hour's drive in China, and it takes 4-5 hours here.

As the luggage moved into the house, I found that my suitcase was flying with a swarm of flies, strange, no smell. As a result, I opened the box and found that the fly trap I was carrying had a very good effect. Attracted a bunch of orange small fruit flies.

After packing our bags, it was time for dinner, and at night we went out of the hotel to explore the surrounding bushes at night, and saw a bono lemur sleeping in a big tree.

Suddenly, I saw a playful snail on a piece of limestone. Tropidophora cuveriana, a peculiar large snail known in Madagascar, is the largest individual the size of a child's fist.

There were countless dead shells, but after turning around the stone forest, I couldn't find a few with complete mouth covers.

The stone forest is a scenic spot, and there are not many animals and plants. Then it's back. On the way back to the bird's nest, the parent bird returned, and it was actually the nest of the Man Island Shou belt bird. Don't be afraid of people, macro shot enough

After eating in the afternoon, we went to the reserve on another road. It's a cave.

End of 2016 Madagascar Expedition (3) Ankanara Stone Forest (Strange Snail)

See two kinds of bats, one large and one relatively small. In fact, it is too far away to see what it looks like

There are a lot of cancer spiders in the cave

There are gobies in the small water in the cave

Freshwater shrimp

goby

Stove horse

Big bats

lemur

Wild Shakya, not yet ripe

Back at the hotel, I found that there were still many bugs in the hotel garden, and there was a flower tree in the hotel. Countless beetles

Flower golden turtle

Another flower golden turtle

weevil

Lijin turtle

Drop the third flower turtle under the flower tree

There are even tiger armor running on the flowers to join in the fun

I saw one of the most peculiar bugs collected this time, and after asking Teacher Cai, he said that it might be a species of the family Officinalis. It was so bizarre that I thought it was a reticulate bug.

Decaying wood armor

longicorn

Flower Tianniu, velvety texture

At night, a collection record was written at the door of the room, and the headlamp attracted the foot silk ants

The camel turtle was also attracted by the headlamp

The cockroaches were also attracted by the headlamps, and the trunks of the flowers were placed to pose

The stone forest is an arid area, and there are many pseudo-infantry

The local water resources are scarce, and the deep wells dug by the hotel are not only supplied to hotel guests, but also provide drinking water for local villagers free of charge. Unfortunately, this water is so dirty, the well water is full of muddy water.

There are mangoes everywhere in the hotel, idle to pick up a few to eat, the taste is very sweet and sweet.

There is a huge jackfruit tree in the middle of the hotel, on which countless nests of nest-weaving birds are busy weaving nests or incubating eggs

The nested bird eggs picked up under the tree are actually beautiful blue, which is so beautiful.

There are wild bee nests in any warehouse or corner of the hotel, and I began to think that it was semi-wild farming similar to the mountainous areas of China, but the boss said that last year there was not yet, and this year the house was occupied by bees for a long time, and it was cut honey in winter. This ecology is simply amazing!
