The United States issued the first X-gender passport

(Observer Network News) The Associated Press reported on October 27 that on October 27, local time, the US State Department announced that it had issued the first passport marked with the gender as x, that is, the passport holder did not define his gender as male or female according to the custom.

The State Department did not disclose the name of the X-sex passport holder, though the Associated Press reported that the first X-gender passport was issued to Colorado transgender resident Dana Zzyym, whose lawyer posted a photo of him obtaining an X-gender passport on social media.

The Associated Press said it was a milestone in the history of LGBTQs pursuing rights protections, and more passports of other genders are expected to be issued next year.

63-year-old transgender zzyym

Jessica Stern, the State Department's LGBTQ special envoy for equity, called the move historic and worth celebrating, making the government-issued documents fit in with "living reality." There is a broader spectrum of sexual characteristics in the current society of the United States, which exceeds the previous definition of gender.

Zzyym began in 2015, when applying for a passport to use the third gender, when the 63-year-old did not check "male" or "female" in the gender column, but wrote a separate "x" next to it.

After getting his passport on the 27th, zzyym, 63, said it was exciting to get a passport and that our goal was to help the next generation of transgender people gain full citizenship, rather than traveling the world.

The U.S. State Department said in June that it was preparing to issue a third gender identity badge to non-binary, bisexual, and gender-inconsistent people, but that would take time because the State Department's computer systems needed to be updated.
