【Editor's Note】

In this issue of "Reading Poems for You", we invited the famous poet, translator and photographer Li Kasa to read a poem by poet Feng Zhi, "We Are Ready".

Feng Zhi was praised by Lu Xun as "China's most outstanding lyric poet", wrote many classic poems, and published poems such as "Yesterday's Song", "Journey to the North and Others", and "Fourteen Elements". Together with Bian Zhilin, he is also considered a modernist in the history of Chinese new poetry. In addition to writing poetry, Feng Zhi was also an excellent translator, translating the poems of Goethe, Heine, Nietzsche, Rilke and others.

Like Feng Zhi, Li Kasa also wrote and translated poems. In 1988, he moved to Sweden to study Swedish literature at Stockholm University, where he translated a large number of Nordic poems, including the Complete Sodegran Poems, the Swedish Contemporary Poetry Anthology The Sound of Ice and Snow, and the complete poetry of the 2011 Nobel Prize-winning Swedish poet Thomas Tronström. In addition, he also translated the works of Chinese poets to foreign countries, translating "Selected Poems of Xichuan" and "Selected Poems of Maicheng".

We're ready

We are ready to receive deeply

Those unexpected miracles,

Suddenly in the long years there was

The comet appeared, and the wind blew.

Our lives in this instant,

As if in the first hug

The sorrows and joys of the past suddenly appeared before our eyes

Condensed into a form that stands still.

We praise the little insects,

They go through a mating session

Or resisted a danger,

And they end their wonderful lives.

Our whole life is bearing

The wind blew and the comet appeared.
