On February 22, 2019, local time, the unveiling ceremony of the local "Ninja Castle Station" was held in Iga City, Mie Prefecture, Japan, and the mayor of Iga City, Sakae Okamoto, dressed in ninja costumes, attended.
Iga City is considered the birthplace of Japanese ninjas, and in order to protect and promote ninja culture, in 2017, it was renamed "Ninja City" and February 22 was designated as "Ninja Day".

Located in the central part of Mie Prefecture, close to Osaka and Nagoya, Iga City is a famous ancient city in Japan. It has a population of 18,000 and its main industries are agriculture and processing.
In October 2014, the Japan Commemorative Day Association recognized the "Ninja Day" festival plan proposed by the Koga City Tourism Association and the Iga Ueno Tourism Association. In February 2015, the tourism association proposals for Koga City in Shiga Prefecture and Iga City in Mie Prefecture were approved, and February 22 was designated as "Ninja Day". February 22 was chosen because the word "忍" in Japanese is pronounced similarly to "2".
