Horsemount fish
Commonly known as: horse mouth, peach blossom fish, mountain carp, pit climbing, wide mouth, large mouth grill, pulling mouth, red car gong, etc.; horse mouth fish body length, flat side, silver gray with red, side abdomen with blue stripes. The cleft is wide and inclined downwards, and the edges of the upper and lower jaws are concave. There is a gap on each side of the upper jaw, which is exactly embedded in the protrusion of the lower jaw, resembling a horse's mouth, so it is called "horse's mouth fish", and the lower side of the head, pectoral and abdominal fins and abdomen of males in the reproductive period are orange-red.
Belonging to the carp family, widely distributed in China, south from Hainan Island, north to Heilongjiang in the eastern rivers are distributed, makou fish not only has strong fecundity, fast growth rate, and its meat taste is delicious, the salmon contains essential fatty acids, and the content is relatively rich, especially DHA, its content is as high as 20%, which is rare in other fish, EPA content of about 7% is relatively high.
Mackerel is a small fish, most of them live in the natural environment of low water temperature in mountain streams, rivers and rapids, long-term activities in the water flow and aquatic grass water body in the upper layer, the water quality requirements are high.
The horsefish swims quickly, is very gluttonous, is a meat-eating omnivorous fish, feeding on small fish and aquatic insects in the water body, although it is mainly meat-eating, it can also eat grass seeds, tree seeds, algae and so on when there is insufficient food.
We also commonly see another species of fish, the broad-finned squid (Brook Brother), which is also similar to the horsefish, and many anglers may not be particularly clear about the differentiation of these two fish.
Broadfin
The broad-finned carp (Brook Brother) has an end to the mouth, and the mouth fissure slopes upwards. The upper jaw is slightly longer than the lower jaw, the upper and lower jaws are not convex, extending backwards to the lower edge of the eye, and the lips are thin, smooth, and tentacle-free, which is the most intuitive difference from the horsefish.
