Reference News Network reported on November 5 (text/Wang Yuan)

I was born in 1960, born in Sichuan, and the exact date of the earliest reading of the "Reference News" cannot be remembered, probably when I was in the first year of junior high school, that is, around 1972.

My parents are both teachers, and my family has been subscribed to three newspapers — People's Daily, Sichuan Daily, and Reference News. In such an environment, I have long loved reading newspapers.

I joined the Sichuan Provincial Go team in 1977 and officially joined the work force until 1983, then transferred to Weiqi Tiandi magazine in 1996, and finally retired in 2020. When I was at work, I would subscribe to a copy of the "Reference News" at my own expense; after I became a family, I would also order a copy at home, which continues to this day. It can be said that my days of reading "Reference News" have never been completely broken.

Reference News is a "world university". There is no need to "live and study", there is no need to "go to school", this is a special institution with unlimited class hours and graduation at any time, accompanied by tea on the sofa at home, and the fragrance of books is pleasant.

Reference News is an "encyclopedia." Don't be greedy, don't be afraid to be confused, this is the trend guide you need to think and take care of yourself at home.

Go contains political, economic, military, musical and natural laws, and a chessboard condenses the careful thinking and rationality of human beings. Similarly, the "Reference News", which has a deep historical background of 90 years, also includes the mysteries of civilization in the development of the world and the vicissitudes of international politics.

I always leave the most "quiet years" of the day for the "Reference News", in the mild light, when everything is silent, I open the "Reference News" with ink fragrance alone.

This newspaper has left me with too many memories.

In the early 1970s, an article in the Reference News mentioned that the per capita housing area in West Germany was 35 square meters. At that time, the Chinese people did not use the concept of "square meters" to measure the size of the house. My family lives in a five-bedroom apartment in the university, three of which are inhabited by a family of seven, and the other two are home to two young teachers, all of whom are a family of three, with one kitchen and one bathroom. Now think about it, that house is up to 150 square meters, and it is still a building area, but it lives in 13 people! That living condition in our country at that time should be quite good. After reading the newspaper, I was still young and pinched my finger alone to calculate, and then sighed: "West Germany, how big!" ”

In recent years, the articles in the Reference News have been more gold-rich. In July 2020, Reference News published an article by Amite Ezioni, a professor at George Washington University in the United States, entitled "Covid-19 Testing Communitarian Values", which said: "Communitarianism is usually defined as a social philosophy in which the common good prevails over individual rights, and individuals are regarded as the cells of the social organism, so they gain their own meaning through their contributions to society." This philosophy draws on Confucian, Buddhist, and Taoist values. This passage is simply expounding the essence of Go, which is an important part of China's excellent traditional culture. "The weakest countries with the weakest communitarianism – led by the US and followed by the UK – have been very poor at containing the outbreak, the article continues. ”

The experience of reading "Reference News" for many years is also the experience of learning, so that I, a Go player who cannot play with "international politics" and "international relations" from a professional point of view, have a certain ability to distinguish.

History is constantly extending; the world is constantly changing. "Reference News" has been a great journal since its birth. Seeing one thing is one side; seeing the micro is the other side. Except for the natural sciences, any "study", deep and simple, is not enough. And "Reference News" is not only a broad platform, but also like a drug primer, but also like a catalyst. For me personally, with the foundation of reading "Reference News" for many years, supplemented by other occasional bits of information, I can assemble the fragments of history, the world, and culture into shape, and form my own personal cognitive "achievements", and such "achievements" are very conducive to the continuous consolidation of family and country feelings.

There are too many topics about "Reference News", so stop here. Thank you "Reference News" and wish "Reference News" a happy 90th birthday!

Finally, I attach a poem of seven laws to summarize my feelings about reading the "Reference News".

I read the reference

Don't stop the wind and clouds from the wall,

Learning is more gratifying.

Encyclopedia of insights for a full time,

The feelings of home and country accompany the years.

Although the traces of the treatise are late and quiet,

It is not too late to give strings by heart.

The Western media withered into three abuses,

Refer to the line foot piercing.
