Taiyuan, December 14 (Xinhua) -- The 21st San Diego Film Critics Association Awards recently announced the list of winners for 2016, and the film "Mountains and Rivers" directed by Chinese director Jia Zhangke won the "Best Foreign Language Film Award".

The San Diego Film Critics Association Awards began in 1996 and are regarded as a bellwether for the Academy Awards each December. This year's San Diego Film Critics Association Awards awarded best picture and best director to the western "To the Soup" and its director David Markkenz, which received unanimous praise from critics, while the best actor and best actress awards were won by American actor Cassie Affleck ("Manchester by the Sea") and Brazilian actress Sonia Braga ("Aquarius").
