Horizontal opposition with the myth of the immortality of the six cylinders: the metamorphosis of 356 to 911
The predecessor of the Porsche 911 was the first Porsche car 356 derived from the Beetle design. Due to the theory of descent, there have been good people throughout the ages who have tried to climb this bloodline for 911.
But the truth is that the rear design of the 901 (the code name of the first generation of the 911) is more in line with the design principles of the sports car than the four-cylinder mid-engine of the 356.
The engine was upgraded from Volkswagen's four-cylinder engine to a popular horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine in the future. While the horsepower doesn't necessarily increase by a lot, it greatly enhances the modification potential of a sports car, which also endorses a technology for the rise of the 911.

This specially modified 930 has also become the prototype of the classic modified 911 "blackbird" in the famous racing comic "Bayshore Midnight".
With wider wheels and wider tires, the advent of the 930 pushed the 911 series to one of the limits of performance cars: the supercar.
Based on the 930, the 934 Turbo RSR car reached 500 horsepower that year, and the 911 has since squeezed into the supercar.
This is also why many supercar clubs (such as SCC supercar clubs) now default to 911 turbo s and above as a condition of membership.
The charm of the grip, 4 with the Porsche 964 can not say the secret
The third generation of the 911, one would say, is that this generation of 911 took the first step towards electronic and technological transformation, the existence of steering power makes it no longer an outdated machine that drives tiringly, abs and airbags make it no longer a widow-made machine, and the introduction of automatic transmission makes it truly an easy to drive sports car.
But what I'm more concerned about is the number 4 — this generation of 964 (the third generation of 911 codenames) is equipped with four-wheel drive technology.
4-wheel drive is the standard option for a monster performance car. Gtr, STI, evo and other god cars rely on four-wheel drive technology to dominate the performance car world.
Four-wheel drive gives you a wider cornering limit and more mechanical grip. Although many people are dismissive of the four-wheel drive equipped with the 964, they may feel that the rear drive is the right one. But from a professional point of view, the intervention of the four-wheel drive system allowed the 911 to complete another metamorphosis.
997, an era that belongs to black technology and PDK
Times change, and finally we have to talk about the contemporary 911. After four generations of evolution, Porsche finally changed the previous air-cooled design in the fifth generation of models and was equipped with a water-cooled engine.
But this is not a revolutionary upgrade in my opinion. At the same time, because the fifth generation, that is, the code name 996 911, the appearance is really ugly, I am ashamed to mention. However, this generation should be the first generation of 911 sports cars that Tianchao car owners can buy.
Porsche sensibly changed the classic look back in the replacement model 997, but because there was no other technological innovation, the 911 was once again despised by other supercars.
Until the end of the 997 life cycle, Porsche was equipped with a PDK transmission for the 911 in the last iteration.
After being tuned by Porsche Racing Engineering, the pdk transmission can achieve unlimited catapults and the response speed exceeds the driver's manual speed change. With this gearbox add-on, the 911 finally has the capital to despise the same twin-turbo Toei God of War gtr. This gearbox is the last piece of the puzzle for this generation of 911s to transform into the perfect car.

None of these technologies are transformative nodes in the history of the automotive industry for me. If tomorrow, the 911 is all electric, then I will sell my fabia 1.6 na and go buy a Roewe ei6, because for me, industry and technology are dead. But I still think of these old guys who once gave me a dream that belonged to 911.
