The Yangtze River has been completely banned from fishing for nearly two years, and the knifefish have obviously increased the number of wild puffer fish

Born on the Yangtze River, Zheng Jinliang raised fish and sold fish to study fish, and interacted with fish for a lifetime. Zheng Jinliang is a businessman with his own restaurant in Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province, specializing in puffer fish and various kinds of river fresh; he is also an aquatic engineer who has studied the artificial cultivation of knife fish and puffer fish for many years. For the fish in the Yangtze River, Zheng Jinliang has a say. In recent years, every year during the knife fish season, reporters always have to talk to him.

Knife fish, anchovies, puffer fish, and called the Yangtze River three fresh. In previous years, when talking about this "three fresh", Zheng Jinliang could not help but sigh: the Yangtze River is empty! Indeed, overfishing and environmental damage have completely eliminated anchovies, puffer fish have been fully converted to artificial culture, and knifefish are still scarce, and their value rises every year. Not only the "three fresh", but even the "pan-general generation" such as silver carp and grass carp, it was once difficult to find traces in the Yangtze River.

The Yangtze River Delta has worked together to protect the Yangtze River, and all aspects of the work have been rapidly advanced. On January 1, 2020, a 10-year total ban on fishing finally gave the fish in the Yangtze River a chance to recuperate. The ban on fishing has been carried out for nearly 2 years, and the effect is very good. Recently, the reporter and Zheng Jinliang chatted about the fish in the Yangtze River, and the excitement and joy of the other party were revealed: "There are more fish!" More visible to the naked eye! ”

"The first two months were sweltering, and schools of fish could even be seen jumping out of the water along the Yangtze River. I haven't seen this kind of scene in years. Zheng Jinliang told reporters that with the full implementation of the ban on fishing, the number of fish stocks in the Yangtze River has gradually recovered, especially the number of four major fish in the Yangtze River has increased most significantly. Not only that, but there were also more knife fish that were once golden. Last year's testing data showed that since the ban on productive fishing on February 1, 2019, the amount of knifefish resources and individual sizes in the Yangtze River have rebounded significantly. Wild pufferfish in the Yangtze River, once thought to have disappeared, also made an appearance in the Haimen section of the Yangtze River last June.

In July this year, Zheng Jinliang released more than 1 million puffer fish fry. He insisted on this matter of deportation for nearly 20 years. In his view, every release is to throw the hope of the recovery of the puffer fish population into the Mother River: "The matter of stocking must be persevered, and it may even take two or three generations of efforts to see the results." But if we don't let go at the moment, there will certainly be no hope; if we let go, there will be hope. ”

What makes Zheng Jinliang feel relieved is that he is no longer alone. In addition to Jiangyin and Yangzhong in Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Anhui have all carried out fry stocking.

At the same time, the ban on fishing in three provinces and one city has better coordination in the system. In December last year, the people's congresses of three provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta region held a forum on joint supervision and coordinated legislation in the Yangtze River Delta region. The meeting decided that the three provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta should take the lead in establishing an inter-provincial people's congress work coordination mechanism of "ten years of fishing ban", carry out linkage supervision and coordinated legislation, promote the implementation of relevant measures of "ten years of fishing ban", and promote and ensure the higher quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. On March 1 this year, the Yangtze River Protection Law came into effect. A month later, the four places of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui jointly issued the "Decision on Promoting and Guaranteeing the Prohibition of Fishing in the Yangtze River Basin", which was implemented on April 1.

The work of banning fishing not only requires strict grasping and heavy management, but also needs three provinces and one city to grasp and manage it together. The decision proposes to establish and improve the closed-loop supervision mechanism coordinated by Shanghai Municipality, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province and Anhui Province, explore the construction of "four platforms" for ship registration information sharing, dynamic supervision of fishing vessels, traceability supervision of aquatic product market circulation, and mutual sharing of law enforcement information, and jointly crack down on all kinds of illegal and criminal acts that undermine the prohibition of fishing.

With institutional guarantees and joint participation, Zheng Jinliang is full of confidence: "Fish will definitely become more and more every year." After 10 years, we know. ”
