This pest is known as the "orchard killer", so it is most effective to control it, and it is managed once in March

Green blind bugs, commonly known as small bed bugs, are one of the most common and most harmful pests on apples, pears, peaches, grapes, dates and other fruit trees, and are widely distributed in the north and south of China. After being killed, it often causes a large number of flowers and fruits to fall, resulting in a serious reduction in yields, and is called "orchard killer" by fruit farmers.

Green blind bug hazard symptoms

Green blind bugs mainly suck the sap of young leaves, young tips, buds, young fruits and other young parts of fruit trees with adult and nymph spines. When feeding, the mouth needle is inserted into the plant cell space and inside the cell, and the plant cells are shredded by the vigorous activity of the mouth needle, while secreting saliva outward, turning the cells to be eaten into a mud-like substance, and then inhaling it into the body, so that it will leave a hole in the corresponding feeding site of the plant tissue, which externally appears as a black prick. After the leaf is damaged, a large number of holes appear on the leaf surface, and the leaves are uneven; after the tender tip is damaged, the growth point stops growing or withers; after the bud is killed, there will be small red dots on the buds, and the buds will fall off directly in the later stage, which is difficult to form fruits; after the young fruit is killed, the damaged parts flow out of the reddish-brown colloidal substance, and in the later stage, the damaged parts will be sunken and grow rust scars or tumors, affecting the appearance of the fruit. Reduces fruit quality.

Green blind bugs are adults

Green blind bugs occur regularly

Green blind bugs occur in the north for 3 to 5 generations a year, mainly in the gap of the fruit tree bark, cotton stalks and other places to overwinter, the next spring, when the temperature exceeds 10 ° C, the relative humidity of the air ≥ more than 70%, the eggs begin to hatch into nymphs, nymphs mainly harm fruit leaves, flowers, fruits, etc., as the wings gradually grow and grow, the nymphs become adults. Adult insects have a strong ability to fly, can carry out long-distance migration and hazards, and when the temperature ≥ above 25 ° C, it enters the peak of harm. Generally, 6 to 7 days after the eggs are feathered, the adults begin to lay eggs. Eggs are mostly scattered in young leaves, young stems, petioles, leaf veins, flower buds and other young tissues, exposing the yellow egg cover, and the egg period is 7 to 9 days. Hatched nymphs are harmed together with adults, especially in May and June, and the most serious damage can cause a large number of young fruits to be killed and lose their commodity value. From August to September, with the completion of fruit picking, a large number of fruit trees grew slightly, and then entered the second peak of harm, and a large number of newly grown tenders were slightly killed, resulting in death. Greater losses to production in the coming year.

Symptoms of juvenile fruit victimization

Serious causes occur in orchards

(1) Cotton planting area decreased: green blind bugs are pests of the hemiptera hagfish family, mainly harmful to cotton, due to the reduction of cotton planting area and the promotion of a large number of insect-resistant cotton, fruit trees and vegetable planting area increased, green blind bugs began to shift from cotton to fruit tree hazards, and gradually became the main pest on fruit trees.

(2) Improper prevention and control: Green blind bugs are difficult to find in the early stage due to their small individual size and strong concealment. In the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests in orchards, fruit farmers only pay attention to the prevention and control of diseases, ignoring the prevention and control of green blind bugs, resulting in more and more serious occurrence of green blind bugs.

(3) Climatic reasons: green blind bugs do not have strict temperature requirements, the incubation starting point temperature of eggs is 3 °C, more than 70% humidity; the starting point of nymphs is 4.6 °C; adult worms like warm and humid environments, the general temperature is 25 °C ~ 30 °C, humidity is about 80%, green blind bugs will multiply in large quantities, and orchards are particularly suitable for the occurrence of green blind bugs due to tall plants, often watering and fertilization, which causes serious occurrence of green blind bugs in orchards.

Prevention and control methods

Fruit trees are more sensitive to the agent during the flowering and fruiting period, improper use, it is easy to cause drug damage, resulting in a large number of flowers and fruits, so the following methods can be used for prevention and control.

(1) Soil treatment: apples, pears, grapes, peaches, dates and other fruit trees before the occurrence of green blind bugs, with 5% imidacloprid granules 1500 to 2000 grams, or 2% thiamethoxine granules 2000 grams, combined with topdressing applied into the soil, because imidacloprid and thiamethoxazine have good systemic conductivity, after being absorbed by the root system, the agent is transmitted to various parts of the upper part of the plant through conduction, and the green blind bugs that are taken are killed. This method of administration is simple, and the duration of the drug can reach more than 90 days, which greatly reduces the number of applications.

(2) Drip irrigation use: For orchards that use drip irrigation for watering and fertilization, in the early stage of green blind bugs, 350 to 500 ml of 21% thiamethoxine suspension agent per mu can be added to the drip irrigation solution, and applied to the soil together through drip irrigation, the agent is evenly distributed around the root system of the fruit tree, and the agent is transmitted to various parts of the plant through internal absorption and conduction, and the pest is killed. The duration of validity can also reach about 60 days.
