Talking about ancient and modern times, digging deep into the history of Hebei that you don't know, hello everyone, I am "Qing Shi Jun", welcome to pay attention to the "Qing Shi Guan", every day to bring you fresh, interesting, dry goods full of historical stories.
Today, we are talking for you about the origin of the names of counties and districts in Hebei Province.

There are 8 counties in Hebei Province that came from the princes of the Western Han Dynasty, namely Quzhou County, Baixiang County, Xian County, Wuqiang County, Rongcheng County, Anguo City, Mancheng District and Guangzong County.
Han Gaozu made the meritorious servant Li Shang the Marquis of Quzhou, which is also the earliest record of "Qu Zhou" appearing in the establishment. However, at that time, the location of the Marquis of Quzhou was in the area of the ancient city of Qiu County, Handan City, and it was not until the song Dynasty that the county administration was moved to the territory of today's Quzhou County.
Baixiang County was set up during the reign of Emperor Yang Jian of Sui, and was named "Baixiang" after the Marquis of Baixiang within its territory. The original Marquis of Baixiang was liu mai, who sealed in 33 BC in the area of present-day Baixiang County.
Cangzhou Xianxian is a county named after Liu De, the king of Hejian Xian. This was once the fiefdom of the King of Hejian, and later there was Xianzhou, and xianzhou was only created after xianzhou was demoted to a county. Liu De, the King of Hejian, was the elder brother of Liu Rong, the deposed prince during the Reign of the Han Jing Emperor, who was known for his culture and ability to organize classic works, and could be regarded as an "alternative prince" in the Western Han Dynasty.
Rongcheng is a county named after Rongcheng with hou. In 154 BC, Emperor Jing of Han enfeoffed the Xiongnu with the title of Marquis of Rongcheng, and the fief was in the area of today's Baoding City.
Anguo got its name from the tomb of the Marquis of Anguo in the early years of the Western Han Dynasty. At that time, Liu Bang, the ancestor of Han Gao, sealed him in this area, and there were 5,000 households in Wang Ling's food and yi, and he had served as the right chancellor, but was later dismissed by Lü Hou and was in a state of retirement.
There is a saying that "Mancheng" is related to Zhang Cang, the Marquis of Beiping, saying that Zhang Cang, a hero of the Western Han Dynasty, lived for more than 100 years and had children and grandchildren in the family, so he had the place name of "Mancheng". This is one of the accounts about the origin of Mancheng County.
Guangzong County in Xingtai City is also related to the Princes of the Western Han Dynasty. In 2 AD, the imperial court made Liu Ruyi the King of Guangzong, and the fief was in the area of present-day Xingtai City. Seven years later, Wang Mang usurped power and the prince was deposed as a commoner. After Emperor Zhang of Han succeeded to the throne, he set up Guangzong County in the official sense here.
According to the inference of later generations, the meaning of "Guangzong" is "to promote Zongzi", which is found in the later "Weixian Zhi".
Wuqiang County is said to be related to The Marquis of Wuqiang. During the Han Gaozu period, he was made the Marquis of Wuqiang by the meritorious warrior Zhuang Buzhi, and his fief was in the area of Jiucheng Village in the southwest of Wuqiang County, Hengshui City, Hebei Province. Of course, Wuqiang County also has a history, which is believed in the Qing Dynasty's "Qifu Tongzhi" because of a Wuqiang Mountain in the territory. This earthen mountain is also known as the "Bow Mountain".
Marquis Wuqiang passed on the third generation, and Zhuang's unknown grandson was named Zhuang Qingzhai, who served as a chancellor and imperial master during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. However, he died in the party struggle during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty and committed suicide by drinking medicine while in detention. It took 86 years (201 BC to 115 BC) from the establishment of the Wuqiang Marquisate to its abolition.
