In the hinterland of Jiaodong on the Shandong Peninsula, there is a unit with a fine tradition, which upholds the tradition, works hard, and guards this hot land with a firm sense of faith and mission. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides, and it is inaccessible, and it still lives in simple bungalows. The young officers and soldiers stationed here with firm convictions have lifted the burden of a strong army with their immature shoulders.
"Hard work and self-reliance" is the founding spirit of the squadron, and this spirit originated in the 80s of the last century. At that time, the squadron had just moved here, and the camp had only simple three-row houses, the yard was overgrown with weeds, the roads had not yet been hardened, and it was difficult to heat with water.
According to the veteran's recollection: At that time, the winter was very cold, and the first thing we did after being laid off at night was not to return to the warm bed, but to fill the boiler room with coal······ In order to better improve the environment, veterans spontaneously laid bricks, paved roads, and planted flowers and plants; through the efforts of generations of officers and men, the environment of the squadron has become more and more warm, and the willingness of officers and men to stay in the squadron has become stronger and stronger.
Nowadays, the conditions of the squadron are getting better and better, but the squadron still regards hard work as the inheritance of virtues, and regularly carries out the activities of "practicing diligence and thrift, opposing extravagance and waste", and has developed the good habit of "four haves" that everyone has savings, everyone can sew, everyone can cut hair, and everyone can paint.
At the same time, the squadron will also "standardize all aspects, grasp the fineness bit by bit" as the daily management requirements of the squadron. Although the squadron camp is not large, it is clean and tidy, the storage rooms are few but orderly; the bed frames, tables, cabinets, and windows are wiped every day; the air conditioners, door cracks, and dead corners are cleaned regularly; and the floors and pools are kept clean and tidy at all times······ Walking into the dormitory, the "tofu blocks" on the bed, the flat white sheets, and the clothes hung up as a whole all reveal the good hygiene habits of the officers and men and the good atmosphere of the squadron in grasping fineness and standardization.
Harmonious internal relations give rise to the combat effectiveness of the troops. In the squadron, from cadres to squad leaders, from squad leaders to soldiers, everyone is united and harmonious with each other, no one does not know about things, no one does not know about their families, and all officers and men love this squadron and this "home" as if they were their own home.
Guo Shitong, the secretary general of the squadron, has been in the squadron for ten years, and this is his second home for him.
The glory lies in the plain, and the arduousness lies in the long. In the face of the arduous environment, the officers and men never spoke of hardship, always adhering to the idea of being a bitter place, a tired place, and a good place for making meritorious contributions, taking the sentry post as a station and the station as their hometown, and writing their mission and loyalty with youth and blood!
