The prototype of "Liang Sanxi" was Wang Fakun, who was then the deputy company commander of the machine gun company of the second battalion of the 115th Regiment of the 39th Division of the 13th Army of the People's Liberation Army; his widow was Li Jinhua, who was only 26 years old when Wang Fakun died, but he never remarried and raised two sons alone.

Martyr Wang Fakun joined the army in 1968 and showed stronger ability than his comrades in the same period from the beginning of recruit training; after being assigned to the company, Wang Fakun trained harder and studied seriously, and soon became a "battle pioneer". Due to his outstanding performance and outstanding achievements, Wang Fakun was successfully promoted to serve as the deputy company commander of a company two years later. At the beginning of April 1978, Wang Fakun had been determined by the army to change careers, and he had contacted the local work, and the post was well paid. However, just as he was about to take off his military uniform and prepare to embark on the road back to his hometown, Wang Fakun was asked by the leader of the unit to talk urgently. It turned out that due to vietnam's continuous provocations and gradual encroachment at that time, China's territorial sovereignty and the safety of border residents were seriously threatened, and the PEOPLE's Liberation Army was about to be forced to launch a border self-defense counterattack. At the end of that year, after careful preparation and targeted training, Wang Fakun led the company to the front-line battlefield without hesitation, and was awarded the second class meritorious service once in the battle. However, in a high-altitude offensive battle (known as the "Battle of Zhou Deng"), in order to protect his comrades-in-arms, Wang Fakun unfortunately died under the shells of the enemy, at the age of 31. On October 30, 1983, Wang Fakun was posthumously awarded the title of martyr by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
