"The Wreath Under the Mountain" is the prototype of Liang Sanxi: Wang Fakun, the widow relies on charitable funding to visit the tomb

In the 1980s, a domestic war film "Garland Under the Mountain" spread throughout the land of China, and the deeds of the battle hero Liang Sanxi and his mother and widow in the movie touched generations of Chinese sons and daughters, who represented the simplest and most industrious people. "Liang Sanxi" loves soldiers like sons, fights bravely, and has a good work style, and his sentence "The motherland is mine, but it is also yours" has brought countless Chinese people to tears. The prototype of "Liang Sanxi" was Wang Fakun, who was then the deputy company commander of the machine gun company of the second battalion of the 115th Regiment of the 39th Division of the 13th Army of the People's Liberation Army; his widow was Li Jinhua, who was only 26 years old when Wang Fakun died, but he never remarried and raised two sons alone.

Martyr Wang Fakun

Martyr Wang Fakun joined the army in 1968 and showed stronger ability than his comrades in the same period from the beginning of recruit training; after being assigned to the company, Wang Fakun trained harder and studied seriously, and soon became a "battle pioneer". Due to his outstanding performance and outstanding achievements, Wang Fakun was successfully promoted to serve as the deputy company commander of a company two years later. At the beginning of April 1978, Wang Fakun had been determined by the army to change careers, and he had contacted the local work, and the post was well paid. However, just as he was about to take off his military uniform and prepare to embark on the road back to his hometown, Wang Fakun was asked by the leader of the unit to talk urgently. It turned out that due to vietnam's continuous provocations and gradual encroachment at that time, China's territorial sovereignty and the safety of border residents were seriously threatened, and the PEOPLE's Liberation Army was about to be forced to launch a border self-defense counterattack. The organization solicited his opinion: "There is going to be a war, and the expansion of the troops needs a large number of grass-roots officers to command, especially experienced artillery cadres..." Hearing this, Wang Fakun, who was full of enthusiasm, immediately said: "Raising troops for a thousand days and using soldiers for a while, the state has cultivated me, and now the motherland has summoned me, and I am duty-bound!" ”

At the end of that year, after careful preparation and targeted training, Wang Fakun led the company to the front-line battlefield without hesitation, and was awarded the second class meritorious service once in the battle. However, in a high-altitude offensive battle (known as the "Battle of Zhou Deng"), in order to protect his comrades-in-arms, Wang Fakun unfortunately died under the shells of the enemy, at the age of 31. On October 30, 1983, Wang Fakun was posthumously awarded the title of martyr by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

After learning the news, Li Jinhua and her mother-in-law rushed to the army to deal with the relevant aftermath; after that, in the case of being surrounded by disciples and being difficult and poor, Li Jinhua spent a full 11 years in addition to raising the old and the young, and paid off the arrears of all the troops and comrades-in-arms, and fulfilled his promise to his deceased husband.

It should be pointed out that Li Jinhua and her son were able to make the trip this time thanks to the help of the Huaxia Charity Foundation and enthusiastic volunteers. Moreover, the family's house and pigsty were also badly damaged, and even tap water was not drunk. Later, this matter was learned by the Huaxia Charity Foundation, which specially sent a pair of "love and condolence teams" to Li Jinhua's home, presented them with condolences such as rice and flour grain and oil, daily necessities, and also invested 8,000 yuan to help Li Jinhua's family repair the livestock shed; the local government also helped the elderly family build a two-story bungalow. After learning that the elderly Li Jinhua wanted to go to the martyrs' cemetery to pay homage to her deceased husband in his lifetime, the charity group immediately contacted the relevant departments and implemented funds to help Li Jinhua and his two sons go to the Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery in Pingbian, Yunnan To visit the graves.
