Sun Chengzong
One day in November of the eleventh year of Ming Chongzhen (1638), an old man with white hair was tied to a ponytail by a fierce-looking Qing soldier, and his eyes looked at the sky and let out a long sigh. The Qing soldiers whipped the horses, and the horses dragged the old man and disappeared into the billowing smoke.
This old man was the former Emperor Qi of the Great Tomorrow, a university scholar, a soldier Shangshu, and the overseer Sun Chengzong.
In August 1638, emperor Taiji appointed The Prince of Heshuo Rui, Dolgun, and Belle Yue as the great general, commanding a 100,000-strong army of eight banners to attack the Central Plains for the fourth time. The Qing army was divided into two routes, and the western front army entered Gaoyang in November along the eastern foothills of the Taihang Mountains.
Before the Qing army besieged the city, Gaoyang County ling Lei Zhibo got the news, panicked, and hurried to the former military department Shangshu, the governor of Jiliao, Sun Chengzong to ask for advice.
Sun Chengzong asked Lei Xianling to sit down, calmly analyzed the situation, and instructed him on how to strengthen the city wall and build fortifications. Lei Zhibo panicked and said, "Elder Sun Ge, we in Gaoyang City have no reinforcements from outside and no grain and grass inside, how can we stop the iron horse of 100,000 Qing soldiers?" The frightened county commander's voice trembled.
Sun Chengzong looked at him and said sharply, "The eldest husband has died and sacrificed his life for the country, which is not enough, and he must not lose Gao Yang." Gaoyang County made Lei Zhibo have to go away in ashes.
In the middle of the night, Sun Chengzong was still thinking about how to resist the enemy, and the domestic servant came to report, and the county ordered Lei Zhibo to abandon the city and flee. Sun Chengzong nodded calmly and said, "Got it."
Sun Chengzong saw Lei Zhibo frightened during the day and felt that he would run away, but sure enough, he did.
Sun Chengzong immediately called a meeting of his family and told everyone about the escape of the county order. Then he commanded his sons to continue to strengthen the walls. The rest make weapons. The beams were torn apart to make a roller, and all the stones and stone steps were collected to make thunder stones.
Prince Dorgon
The next day, just after dawn, Dorgon led the Qing army on iron horses, and murderously drained the water around Gaoyang City.
Sun Chengzong pulled all his family and the whole city's people up the city wall and waited in a strict position.
Dorgon personally supervised the battle, and the Qing army set up a ladder and violently attacked the city. For a moment, the killing sound was tremendous, the arrows were raining down, spears and short guns were roaring past, and rolling wood and thunder stones flew down. Sun Chengzong's fourth son, who was already thin and weak, struggled to swing his large sword and cut down the Qing soldiers who climbed the city wall. Suddenly, a flying arrow hit the chest and died instantly.
After a day of bloody fighting, he finally defended Gaoyang City. As the Qing army retreated, Sun Chengzong dragged the old man's body and looked at the corpses and was indignant. Let the son count the number of people, a day of bloody fighting, nearly half of the casualties.
Sun Chengzong thought about defending the city in this way, but after all, he couldn't hold it, and he had to think of a way. After pondering for a long time, he instructed his third son, Sun Li, to lead someone to collect the dung in the city and add poison to it as a weapon against the Qing army.
The next day, the Qing army attacked the city again, and Sun Chengzong sat on the city wall to supervise the battle, and he ordered that the feces with poison be boiled on the city wall. This boiling feces, known as "golden soup", was thrown at the Qing soldiers who were about to climb the city wall. The crying father who poured the Qingbing poured it on the Mother, and the feces with poison were poured on the Qingbing and immediately festered. The Qing soldiers had never seen this secret weapon and had to retreat.
The commander of the Qing army, Prince Rui, Dolgun, did not expect that this small Gaoyang City was so difficult to attack, sun Chengzong was so tenacious, and he did not expect this "Golden Soup" weapon to be so powerful. After attacking for such a long time, the Qing soldiers suffered heavy casualties, but they did not attack, and they had the intention of retreating and changing their ways to attack.
At this moment, the appearance of a person changed the tide of the war.
It was night, and Dorgon was deliberating on the big tent, and the sentry came to report that a man claimed to be ordered by Gaoyang County to see him.
Dorgon was stunned and commanded, "Bring him in." ”
Gaoyang County made Lei Zhibo tremble and was brought in, pounced on his knees, and buckled his head to Dolgun. Dorgon shouted angrily, "What do you mean by me?" Lei Zhibo said that the small one was Gaoyang County Ling, who saw the arrival of the Qing army and wanted to surrender to the Qing army, but Sun Chengzong did not surrender. He escaped and surrendered to the Qing army, and when he saw that the Qing army could not capture Gaoyang City in two days, he came to give you advice.
Dorgon said, what a good idea you have. Lei Zhibo said that there were more than 2,000 soldiers in Gaoyang City and the common people. In the past two days, two-thirds of the bloody battles have been killed or wounded, and there are few people left in the city. As long as the offensive is intensified, Gaoyang City will undoubtedly be broken.
Dorgon listened, immediately reorganized his men, and began a fierce siege of the city.
At this time, Gaoyang City was already exhausted, with less than a hundred people left, and there was no combat strength. Sun Chengzong was outnumbered under the onslaught of the Qing army, and the city of Gaoyang was destroyed.
Sun Chengzong was brought before Dorgon, who persuaded him to surrender. Sun Chengzong said awe-inspiringly, "I am a minister of the Heavenly Dynasty, the city has died, dead ears, and there are no words." ”
Dorgon advised, "There is no sword under the heavens to kill the old man", submit to my Great Qing, and give you the high-ranking official Houlu.
From here, we can see how much Emperor Taiji and Dorgon value Sun Chengzong.
Dorgon asked him to bring Sun Chengzong's four-year-old grandson and said that if you did not surrender, you would kill your lovely grandson. Sun Chengzong looked at this most beloved grandson and shook his head gently...
Furious, Dorgon drew his sword on the spot and killed Sun Chengzong, the grandson, and then ordered Sun Chengzong to be tied to a horse's tail and dragged to death.
In the Battle of Gaoyang, Sun Chengzong's six sons and twelve grandsons were full of more than 30 people, in addition to the eldest son Sun Quan, there was also a six-year-old grandson who was saved from death because he lived in the grass, and the rest were all killed in battle, and a generation of famous ministers were martyred.
@ Geek 1971 Sun Chengzong is a famous courtier of the Ming Dynasty, and there are many stories about him. Gao Yang fought a bloody battle and martyred the country. If there is any discrepancy, please be kind.
