Recently, Chinese fashion designer Guo Pei publicly auctioned his gold wedding dress at sotheby's "Turning Stones into Gold" auction in London. This is Sotheby's first collaboration with an Asian couture designer.

This wedding dress, which symbolizes power and status in gold, took 5 years and was completely embroidered by hand. According to Guo Pei, the design of the golden wedding dress is inspired by the palace culture, and the craftsmen use more than 30 kinds of embroidery techniques from all over the world to carry out multi-level three-dimensional gold thread embroidery on the textured fabrics with a certain thickness, and the auspicious patterns such as dragon and phoenix, pisces and peonies are produced with different levels and different lusters of relief texture.

After the auction, the gold wedding dress was finally successfully traded at the "Stone into Gold" auction for 375,000 pounds (equivalent to 3.41 million yuan).

"Stones into Gold" is Sotheby's first gold-themed auction in 2018, which aims to showcase the pursuit and worship of gold and its power by contemporary artists and ancient craftsmen.
