West Chamber

Red Lady is a maid of the Xiangguo Mansion, and she not only has to take care of Miss Cui Yingying's diet and living, but also monitors Miss Cui at the behest of the old lady, and has bad tendencies to report at any time. However, when the Red Lady saw Miss Yingying's thoughts about Zhang Sheng, she still broke through the shackles of feudal etiquette and risked being punished by the old lady to help Miss Yingying and Zhang Sheng, and finally under the mediation of the Red Lady, the lovers finally became dependents.

Through the joint efforts of Zhang Sheng and Yingying, all obstacles were overcome, and the lovers eventually became dependents.

The story is derived from the Tang Dynasty Yuan's legendary novel "Yingying Biography", the Northern Song Dynasty Zhao Lingyu rewrote the drum words of "Shang Tune Butterfly Love Flower", and the Jin ren Dong Xie Yuanfu adapted it into "Xi Xiang Ji Zhu Gong Tune" (xi called "Dong Xi Xiang").

Wang Shifu adapted it into a miscellaneous drama on this basis. The script celebrates the rebellious spirit of young men and women against the old etiquette, and carefully shapes the typical characters with distinct personalities such as Zhang Sheng, Yingying, and Red Lady.
