On April 6, 2020, more than 100 white-headed hard-tailed ducks appeared on the surface of Gulungu Lake in Fuhai County, Xinjiang.

The internationally endangered white-headed hard-tailed duck is now in Xinjiang's Wulungu Lake, and the number of clusters has broken the domestic record!

The white-headed hard-tailed duck is an internationally endangered species, and this large population gathering in Xinjiang and even the whole country is really rare!

On the same day, during the bird monitoring activities, the Xinjiang Bird Watching Association Ren Bird Flying Team and the Wetland Park Patrol Team observed a spectacular scene of 135 white-headed hard-tailed ducks at one time. This is currently the largest population recorded in the country for the bald-headed hard-tailed duck.

Around the time of the Qingming Dynasty, when the migratory birds of Ulungu Lake returned, the Xinjiang Bird Watching Association organized a bird monitoring activity during the migration season of Ulungu Lake.

During the event, a total of 73 species of birds were recorded, with a cumulative number of more than 20,000 birds, providing real-time and accurate data for the survey of bird resources in Ulungu Lake.

It is reported that the Ulungu Lake Wetland passed the acceptance in December 2017 and officially became a national wetland park. In recent years, under the careful care of local government departments and people of all ethnic groups, the ecological environment has been well improved, all kinds of rare birds have chosen to settle here, and the number of bird species and populations has continued to increase, reaching an unprecedented scale, becoming a veritable bird paradise.
