Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin answered reporters' questions on the declassified version of the report released by the United States on the traceability of the new crown virus.
Q: On October 29, the Office of the Us Director of National Intelligence released a declassified version of the report on the traceability of the new crown virus.
A: When the US intelligence services released the summary of the so-called declassified version of the report on the so-called traceability issue in August, the Chinese side made it firmly opposed. A lie repeated a thousand times is still a lie. No matter how many times this report is published and how many versions it is concocted, it cannot change the nature of its outright political reports and false reports, and it has no scientific or credible.
Tracing the origin of the new crown virus is a serious and complex scientific issue, which should and can only be carried out by scientists around the world. The use of intelligence services to trace the source is itself ironclad evidence of politicizing the issue of traceability. The US intelligence services have a bad track record, and the fraud and deception are well known to the world.
Recently, more than 80 countries have written to the WHO Director-General, issued statements or notes to clearly express their opposition to the politicization of traceability and uphold the position of the China-WHO joint research report. More than 300 political parties, social organizations and think tanks in more than 100 countries and regions submitted a joint statement against politicization of traceability to the WHO Secretariat. This is the voice of justice for the international community.
However, the US side ignores international justice and is still obsessed with political manipulation and intelligence traceability, which can only further damage global scientific cooperation on traceability, further undermine international anti-epidemic cooperation, and bring more loss of life.
What the United States should do now is to stop throwing blame on the outside world and focus on domestic anti-epidemic and global cooperation. Stop political manipulation and create conditions for global scientists to cooperate in traceability. Stop attacking and smear China, respond to the legitimate concerns of the international community, accept visits from WHO experts, and open the Fort Detrick Biological Laboratory and biological experiment base.
