The 2021 Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony came to an end, and Players such as Pierce, Bosh, Ben Wallace and other players officially became members of the Hall of Fame. According to the current regulations, players will be eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame after 3 years of retirement.

West, a player of the Golden Generation of the 2003, was selected by the Hornets with the first round of the 18th pick at that year's star-studded draft, and played for the Hornets (2003-2011), Pacers (2011-2015), Spurs (2015-2016) and Warriors (2016-2018) in a total of 1034 regular season games, averaging 28.2 minutes, 13.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists. 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks. In 2008 and 2009, he was named to the NBA All-Star Team twice, and in the 2016-17 season and 2017-18 season, he won the NBA championship with the Warriors twice.

On August 30, 2018, David West announced his retirement on Twitter, ending his 15-year career.

West wrote on his own Twitter: "I've been lucky enough to be able to fulfill my childhood dream of playing in the NBA. After 15 seasons, I decided to retire. I am very grateful to my family, friends, coaches, teammates, teams and fans for their support over the years and to keep a humble heart at all times. Thank you very much to those who have cheered me, encouraged me to come out of the haze, prayed for me, and said simple words of praise to me. Believe in yourself! Come on! ”

On March 24, 2011, during a game against the Jazz, West sprained his knee with a dunk and fell to the ground in pain. After an examination, West's cruciate ligament in his knee was torn and the season was reimbursed. Since that season, West's performance has begun to decline.

On June 25, 2015, West chose to jump out of his contract with the Pacers, forfeiting his final year's $12.6 million contract to become a free agent. The reason why West gave up tens of millions of annual salary is to pursue the championship. So he joined the Spurs with a basic salary, but he failed to do so at the Spurs. Later, West joined the Warriors with a base salary, and finally achieved the honor of championship!
