In the 19th century, during the Spanish War for Independence, the city was rebuilt after the war when the city was severely damaged. It has a long history and has preserved a large number of architectural and cultural sites, including the ruins of city walls and bridges in the ancient Roman period, churches, bell towers, palaces and so on in different eras.
