For Chinese, this is not only politeness, but also an expression with the connotation of worldly affection.
Chinese expressions of human will have a general sense of identity. This completely different logic is understood by the Chinese people as "Providence" and "Heavenly Calculation". You see, those who hold supreme power only dare to be called "the Son of Heaven", which shows the fear of Providence. Therefore, man's natural enemy is not as powerful as heaven's calculation.
Therefore, people upgraded "human will" and "providence" to "human calculation" and "heavenly calculation". For thousands of years, ordinary people with rich experience and educated and intelligent social elites have been in awe of "Providence" and "Heavenly Calculation".
While the average person is proficient and intoxicated by the beauty of the will, the elite is soberly guessing the laws of Providence. Try to make the right grasp of the evolution of the future destiny.
Taoism and Confucianism are representatives of the Chinese elite who sought to transcend human will and human calculation and approach providence and heavenly calculation.
In the Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu made a different interpretation of man's concept of misfortune and happiness than he would have. He said, "Woe is where blessings depend; blessings are where misfortunes lie," meaning that bad things can lead to good results, and good things can lead to bad results. Under certain conditions, blessings can become evils, and misfortunes can become blessings.
Lao Tzu was the "first man" who jumped out of the narrow logic of human will, and on behalf of all sentient beings, he began to use the perspective of Providence to look at people's misfortunes and blessings!
Lao Tzu further distinguished between the two logical systems of human will and providence, human calculation and heavenly calculation. He said, "The way of heaven is that there is more than enough to make up for what is lost; the way of man is not enough to make up for what is lost." Meaning: The pursuit of human intentions is to increase the good, but the law of heavenly heavenly calculation (nature) is to reduce the surplus of supplies. He truly peeked into Providence.
Confucianism also transcends the obstacles of human will and human calculation and moves closer to the logic of Providence and Heavenly Calculation. Mencius said: Only when people reach the realm of "rich and noble cannot be adulterous, poor and lowly cannot be moved, and mighty cannot be bent" can they become "great husbands" with achievements!
Imagine: when a man is rich, he can still be humble in everything and never be confused; when he is poor, he can maintain his integrity; he will never bow his head in the face of rape. The three major tests of rich, poor, and rape cannot change him. Can such a person easily collapse? The Buddhists even use Buddhist thinking such as "color is emptiness, emptiness is color" and "dependent voidness" to completely negate the human logic of "seeking perfection and seeking perfection" in the earthly world.
The Buddhists believe that life is the product of the "gathering of conditions" of various conditions. The existence of life is temporary, not absolute. Life is impermanent and full of variables. The human logic of "seeking perfection and perfection" in the secular world is destined to be a kind of self-attachment that is difficult to achieve. It is against the logic of Providence and Calculation, destined to be unable to escape the fate of trouble, pain and failure!
It is no wonder that people throughout the ages, in the process of bustling and seeking perfection, most of them have broken their heads and bloodshed, abandoned their previous achievements, and have to issue a lament that "people are not as good as heaven"!
The exploration of the two logical systems of human will and providence provides us with rare enlightenment: although human will is beautiful, although human calculation is detailed, it is always naïve and fragile.
And the providence and calculation that we subconsciously keep secretive are powerful and difficult to overcome. In the practice of our life of doing things, we must not indulge in any beautiful people's calculations, but we must be good at starting from the logic of providence and natural calculations to increase the chances of winning for our personal planning.
So in the history books, we witness many wise deeds of the sages of the past: the interesting old man named Saion, who lost a good horse. This huge loss is comparable to the loss of a "BMW" or "Mercedes" by people today. Others chafed at him. But he said calmly, "Anzhi is not blessed?" And when the good horse was found again, he still said quietly, "Anzhi is not a disaster?" He was always able to transcend human will and human calculation, and maintain vigilance and reverence for providence and calculation.
Fan Li, who helped Yue Wang to practice his salary and taste his guts, saw the providence and calculation of "cunning rabbit death and lackey cooking" in the instant when he went through hardships to destroy Wu Wangfuchai. So he and Xi Shi retired to the vast rivers and lakes of smoke and waves, and replaced it with the legendary name of "Tao Zhu Gong".
And Zeng Guofan, who is said to be half a perfect person, was not confused when the official luck was prosperous. When he found himself envious of his colleagues' wives and concubines, he actually scolded himself in his diary that "animals are inferior"! Three provinces and one body. After breaking through Tianjing and creating the Immortal Qigong, he was able to take the initiative to dismiss tens of thousands of elite Xiang troops, and in the way of retreating in a torrential manner, avoiding the jealousy of his colleagues and the suspicion of the imperial court, he peacefully rubbed shoulders with the "black swans" of Providence and Heavenly Calculation.
Understand the beauty of human will and the details of human calculation, and can transcend its shallowness and fragility;
Fear the profundity of Providence and the power of Heavenly Calculation, and be able to act according to snobbery;
In this world, we can work hard for survival, for the cause, for the homeland, and try to hold the odds of victory or be invincible for as long as possible.
