Citizens of Zigong, Sichuan Province, found suspected dinosaur fossils, and experts initially judged that it was about 160 million years old
Zigong, China, December 22 (Liu Gang) "The cross-section on a cliff on the side of the road, the color and outline are different from the surroundings. Because of my profession, I realized that this might be a fossil. On the afternoon of December 21, Mr. Li, a citizen who lives near Dashanpu in Da'an District, Zigong City, Sichuan Province, went out for a walk with his family when he accidentally found a suspected large sauropod dinosaur leg bone fossil on the side of the road. Immediately, Mr. Li reported the situation to the Zigong Dinosaur Museum, and the museum immediately sent experts to the scene to investigate and properly protect it.
On the evening of the 21st, Jiang Shan, deputy director of the research department of the Zigong Dinosaur Museum, said that after preliminary identification by experts, it has been basically determined to be sauropod dinosaur fossils, about 160 million years ago, and vegetarian. Judging from the limb bones of the fossils, the dinosaurs were larger.

"The length of the fossil is still very long, about 1.1 meters." According to Mr. Li, a citizen, when he found a suspected dinosaur leg bone fossil on the side of the road, he was excited. After he hurriedly approached and examined it carefully, he was more certain of his speculation. Mr. Li believes that this should be a fossil leg bone of a dinosaur, but he is not sure whether it is a tibia or a humerus.
Jiang Shan, deputy director of the research department of the Zigong Dinosaur Museum, said that in the next step, the museum is ready to transport special machines and equipment to the site, excavate the fossils, and send them to the museum for research and collection. Whether there are other associated fossils around this fossil needs to be further excavated. (End)
