How can software companies unlock the shackles of the "card neck"?

Affected by geopolitics and the pressure of traditional industrial upgrading and the iterative demand for emerging information technology, China's cloud computing industry is undergoing fission. For software companies, the shift in IT architecture to cloud-native is accompanied by a trillion-dollar raceway.

"The market value of the US software giant Salesforce is currently around $200 billion, and I believe that in three to five years, At least one such giant software company will be born in China." On the afternoon of May 8, Deng Yongfu, vice president of Kingdee China, said in an interview with the first financial reporter at the Kingdee Cloud Summit that the next three years are the golden window period for China's software development, and the high-frequency iteration of enterprise digital needs has brought more opportunities to this industry.

According to Gartner's forecast data released in August 2020, cloud revenue growth will reach 96% in 2024, three times the growth rate of traditional software revenue. Among them, the platformization trend of infrastructure software that overlaps the most with PaaS is significant, and the proportion of PaaS will reach 48.5% in 2024.

However, from the perspective of the dominant players in the past software track, most of them are dominated by international software giants. According to an IDC report, the top five enterprise application software vendors in the world are SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, Intuit and Microsoft, with revenue share of 7.7%, 5.1%, 5%, 3% and 2.1%, respectively. In the Chinese market, the software IT architecture of early enterprises is also mostly built by international enterprises.

"Push forward 20 years, Chinese enterprises in the construction of IT systems are hoping to learn from some foreign existing business processes and control processes, a model or process can be used for more than ten or twenty years, but now with the development of digitalization and cloud, management into no man's land, many businesses have no ready to use the program, now when foreign software companies design the program, encountered in China's tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of user needs, this in the global market are more difficult to find a sample to learn." Deng Yongfu told reporters that Chinese software manufacturers are ushering in an opportunity point of the times.

However, for Chinese software companies, there are still many challenges to change the traditional IT platform, such as slow iteration of the original software, low development efficiency, poor experience, and a relatively high threshold for developers and less ability to reuse. At the same time, if Chinese companies want to break free from the shackles of bondage, they must make their software autonomous and controllable, not just to A (America), but to grasp the autonomy.

How can software companies unlock the shackles of the "card neck"?

"The old, complex, rigid, expensive systems, at the end of their lives, it's not who we're replacing, it's the customers and partners who have to re-arm themselves, either to stand still or embrace change." Xu Shaochun, chairman of the board of directors of Kingdee Group, told reporters in a subsequent interview that for software companies, the real 'card neck' is not technology, but the mode of thinking, and the confidence of Chinese companies in Chinese software needs to be regained.

Xu Shaochun believes that solving the problem of "card neck" is the national consensus, the focus is to master the core technology in the core areas, "we must make great efforts in key areas and places where the card neck is", "solve a number of 'card neck' problems as soon as possible, work intensively in the field of industrial advantages, and surpass more unique skills." ”

Secondly, what is stuck in the neck of the enterprise is not only technology, but also thinking, not only from external forces, but also from the resistance of internal change. In the face of the high uncertainty of the market environment, the traditional software development platform is no longer enough to support the innovation and development of enterprises, so the platform is needed. "If Chinese enterprises want to break free from the shackles of development, they must make enterprise software autonomous and controllable. But at the same time, we have insight that for enterprises, autonomous control = enterprises themselves can control. Businesses don't just want to go to America, they want autonomy. ”

"In the future, enterprises will no longer be subject to a certain system, a certain platform or a certain software solution, and have a truly autonomous and controllable, open ecological, and high-frequency iterative development platform." Xu Shaochun believes that the current era of platform success, every enterprise is becoming a software company, therefore, high-performance enterprise-level PaaS platform is imminent.

Therefore, Kingdee hopes to use the launch of the Sky PaaS platform to make it the software company behind the software company. On the same day, Kingdee officially released Kingdee Cloud Cangqiong PaaS platform v4.0, and announced that it will provide 2 billion ecological war investment funds in the next 5 years to build a PaaS ecology with enterprises, partners and friends.

Xu Shaochun said that the Cangqiong platform is an independently developed platform that does not rely on any foreign commercial software, and the domestic adaptation from the chip to the operating system, database, host, storage, the whole technology stack to achieve independent control.

However, it can also be seen that in addition to the technical control, the creation of the software ecological platform is not an easy task and requires long-term investment.

"Today's China, from today to 2050 China, has the best soil for software innovation in the world. Our software has evolved in supply chain security, but it still lags behind strategic requirements. This is the reality. Yang Xueshan, former vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said at the above meeting.

"True innovative change must be able to adapt to changes in the object system, and change with the change of the object system. Think of Oracle's database, Microsoft's operating system, WPS's office software. We are all in the beginning, and its architecture is able to accommodate future developments. Yang Xueshan said.
