Ibrahimović: Mbappe needs to do better

Ibrahimović questioned Mbappe's wishes, saying he "needs to taste the blood and walk on the fire" if he wants to reach his full potential.

Mbappe, 22, was named one of the finest young players on the planet; Natural heir to the throne of Messi and C Ronaldo.

He has won one World Cup and four Ligue 1 titles, but as his career progresses he is expected to get more trophies, with the ultimate goal being the Ballon d'Or.

Ibrahimović, though, doesn't think Mbappe is pushing himself to the limit. "I like Mbappe, but he's not doing enough," the former Paris Saint-Germain striker told Telefoot.

"If he hurts himself, he's going to get really strong. He needed to taste the blood and walk on the fire. Surrounded by people who say you're not good enough and you're going to be the best person you can be. ”

Ibrahimovic scored 156 goals in 180 games in Paris, and Mbappe is getting closer to that number, scoring 138 goals in his next five games.

However, many former players, such as Nicolas Anelka, have questioned whether Ligue 1 is challenging enough for Mbappe, as Paris Saint-Germain usually wins with ease.

Everyone agreed that if Mbappe wanted to follow in the footsteps of Ronaldo and Messi and win the Ballon d'Or, he would have to go abroad.

"You (Mbappe) have at least two choices – either stay in Paris or go to Real Madrid," Anelka said in July.

"Now they can all win the Champions League. This was not the case when I was still in Paris Saint-Germain.

This choice depends on what you want to achieve. If you want the greatest honor, you will have to leave Paris Saint-Germain.

"No matter what you do in Paris, it's great, but there's always going to be someone who says, 'Well, you're doing a great job at Paris Saint-Germain, but that's just in France.' The best leagues are in England and Spain, so you don't have to compete with the best players in the best leagues. ”

"If you want to win the Ballon d'Or, you should emulate Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, you have to compete with the best people.

"When you're at Paris Saint-Germain, you can't say you've been competing with the best players. The French league is not easy, don't get me wrong, but I think the hardest league is the English league. ”
