Turtle Rock developed the Path to Survival game in 2008 and invented the 4-player co-op zombie game mode. Modern games like Warhammer: The Plague of the Last Days, Rainbow Six: Xenomorph, and Refall are extensions of this mode. Considering the popularity of the genre, Turtle Rock returned in October with Blood Revenge.

However, this spiritual sequel is very difficult to surpass turtle Rock's previous original series. Even after 12 years, "The Walk of The Living 2" is still more popular on Steam than the recently released "Blood Revenge". In fact, Blood Revenge actually stimulated players' enthusiasm for the previous game in 2009.
According to the SteamDB database, the data of "Road to Survival 2" completely suppressed "Blood Revenge":
Highest online player
Blood Revenge is 65,000, while Path of Survival 2 is 8 years ago, more than 160,000
24-hour peak
"Blood Revenge" 25,680 people, "Road to Survival 2" 35,506 people
Current online players
"Blood Revenge" 20191 people, "The Road to Survival 2" is slightly higher, for 20217 people
Of course, the above comparison is limited to Steam, and "Blood Revenge" has also landed on other platforms, including Xbox and PlayStation.
It was clearly what they didn't want to see for Turtle Rock, which left Valve in 2010. At the time of the release of Path 1, Turtle Rock was known as Valve South. Valve retained the rights to The Walk Around and developed The Walk 2 in-house. While Blood Revenge may eventually turn things around, the first month of the game is certainly not going to be good.
