The Maling River is a drainage channel that runs through the north and south of the old town of Suqian City. Due to the poor water system and the mixed flow of rain and sewage, the water body of the Maling River has become black and smelly, and the odor is pungent, which has aroused strong reactions from the citizens, known as "LongsuGou" and become the "heartache" of the city.

In 2014, Suqian City formulated the "Implementation Plan for the Comprehensive Improvement of the Maling River Water Environment" and launched a new round of comprehensive improvement of the Maling River water environment.
The comprehensive improvement project of malinghe has invested a total of 415 million yuan, mainly implementing water system communication, rainwater pipe network, initial rainwater regulation and storage pond, river channel expansion, landscape greening and other projects; accumulatively laying 8.6 kilometers of sewage trunk pipes, supplementing and renovating 13.3 kilometers of rainwater sewage branch pipes, and building 3 new initial rainwater diversion and storage ponds (a total of 14,500 tons); promoting the transformation of shantytowns on both sides of the strait, implementing the return of land to the river and returning the land to green, and completing the transformation of 28 residential areas and more than 28 kilometers of new rainwater sewage pipe networks.

In the application of measures, the project communicates the Maling River and the Middle Canal, supporting the construction of the source water ecological wetland, providing clean water replenishment for the Maling River, with a daily replenishment of up to 20,000 tons; strengthening the internal source treatment of the river, accumulating 100,000 square meters of dredging, and expanding the river channel area of 40,000 square meters; planting aquatic plants with strong ecological restoration ability, laying oxygenation facilities, using ecological retaining walls, comprehensively improving the self-purification ability and ecological restoration ability of water bodies; applying the sponge city concept, building new parks along the river, laying pedestrian paths, combining the road network conditions, Open up cross-strait traffic roads, build a large north-south corridor, increase the green area by 145,000 square meters, and build 6.2 kilometers of new roads.

Since the completion of the rectification, malinghe has won more than 20 honors such as the typical case of environmental protection action of national urban black and odorous water bodies, the top ten typical examples of environmental protection in Jiangsu Province, the most beautiful rivers and lakes in Jiangsu Province, and the example of black and odorous water treatment in Jiangsu Province.
After three years of systematic planning and comprehensive improvement, today, this former "LongsuGou" has transformed into an "ecological river, landscape belt, and north-south corridor" where the city and water are integrated and people and water are harmonious.
