The accident occurred at about 11:05 p.m. on the 1st, when a 28-year-old U.S. military in South Korea drove his wife and a 1-year-old toddler and hit a trailer head-on during a sharp turn. The car caught fire, and three members of the US military family in South Korea died on the spot. The accident also caused the tow truck driver to fracture his lower body and has been sent to the hospital for treatment.

South Korean police said that it was speculated that the U.S. troops in South Korea had crossed the Yellow Solid Line due to speeding or unskilled driving, and planned to conduct autopsies on the three dead to find out the specific cause of death. In addition, due to the burning of the car's driving recorder, the police will retrieve the driving recorders of other vehicles to investigate the specific cause of the accident.
