The organizer, the World Association of Top Scientists, announced that the "Association of World's Top Scientists Award" will be established to recognize scientists who have made outstanding contributions in their fields worldwide.
The "World Top Scientists Association Award" is initiated by the World Top Scientists Association, hosted by the Shanghai World Top Scientists Development Foundation, and supported by sequoia China. The award is positioned as an international science award established in China, organized by social forces, and selected and awarded to scientists around the world (regardless of nationality and age), inviting the world's top scientists to serve as judges.
The award, which is exclusively donated by Sequoia China with a capital of 500 million yuan, is China's first international science award exclusively supported by a single investment institution, and will be the first to set up two individual awards, "Mathematics and Intelligent Science Award" and "Medical and Life Science Award", which will be selected once a year, and the amount of each single award will be 10 million yuan, ranking among the highest technology awards in the world.
Roger Korenberg, president of the World Association of Top Scientists and winner of the 2006 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, said that the concept of the Top Science Association Award was conceived at the same time as the World Top Scientists Forum, and the sustainable support of Sequoia China was landed, which proved that China attaches great importance to the development of basic science and shows the foresight of Chinese entrepreneurs; the Top Science association award focuses on supporting original basic research, encouraging scientific and technological personnel to better devote themselves to and serve the common well-being of all mankind; through unremitting efforts, We are confident that this science award, which was founded in China, will become the world's top science award with significant international influence.
As a global strategic partner of the forum, Shen Nanpeng, founding and managing partner of Sequoia China, said in his opening speech that the World Association of Top Scientists Award is a permanent public welfare "investment" of Sequoia China in human science and technology.
