Mid-Autumn Festival is the best season to visit Denggu in the Yimeng Mountains to watch autumn scenery. All kinds of weeds have laid a thick carpet on the mountain valley, and the wind and grass are like the microwaves of the sea, ups and downs, and people have given it a beautiful name - Gushang Grassland. Wildflowers abound in the grass: you see the morning glory that clings to the trumpets of others and climbs high, and the face is bulging red. All kinds of step-by-step ascending flowers, white dried flowers, orange and saffron shandandan, purple flowers of sand ginseng, orange stems, hundreds of kinds of wildflowers, a variety of forms, let people feel that it is a kind of beauty enjoyment. But I love the snow-white leeks even more.
Mountain leek flowers, also known as wild leeks, are umbrella-shaped small white flowers that bloom in autumn with mountain leeks. Mountain leeks are perennial herbs. Its leaves are hairy and appear rougher than the leeks in the garden. The taste is spicy, slightly fatty, and the leaves and flowers can be edible, which has high nutritional value and medicinal value. In the countryside of Yimeng Mountain, there has been a custom of eating mountain leeks since ancient times. In the spring and summer, people like to pick mountain leeks and fry them at home, sometimes making dumplings to eat, or cold mixing. In autumn, people like to pick its flowers home and add shallots, peppercorns, ginger, mint and other condiments to make leek sauce, which is delicious and delicious. In the countryside, almost every family makes it and eats it until the coming year. In the season when the mountain leeks are in full bloom, people use the soybeans harvested that year to make tofu and eat them with leek sauce while hot, which is really a delicious dish.
Mountain leeks were not only a delicious snack for the families of the farmers, but also made a great contribution to the revolution during the war years. In the 1990s, one of my cousins, Li Yongjing, returned from Xi'an to his hometown to visit relatives. He was a veteran of the army in 1942, first in the district squadron, then in the regular unit of the Eighth Route Army, until the end of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, he transferred to local work, and served as the party secretary and president of a hospital in Xi'an. This time home was the Mid-Autumn Festival, and he asked me to accompany him to the mountains to see the changes in his hometown and the places where he had fought. I first came to the Eastern Han Dynasty, which was once the station of the Guozhuang District Squadron. He found a snow-white leek at a glance, turned back to me and said, "Nephew, you see how fresh this mountain leek is, I haven't seen it for many years." As soon as I saw the mountain leeks, I remembered the hard years of fighting guerrillas here. Think about that time was too hard, almost every day in the mountains with Japanese devils, Kuomintang stubborn military hide cats and cats, eat all by the common people, village underground party organization secretly sent to the mountains chaff pancakes, vegetable dumplings, sometimes for a few days even this can not eat, can only eat wild vegetables to fill the hunger. In the spring, the leeks are eaten until the autumn when the leeks are eaten. Because it is a bit spicy, it can promote diet. Rely on it to face other coarse rice and wild vegetables to quickly swallow and fill your stomach. Later, when I went somewhere else, I wasn't so lucky. Sometimes when I was besieged by the enemy, I remembered the wild vegetables and mountain leeks in the Yimeng Mountains. Even in the era of peace, I still miss the leeks in my hometown from time to time. This is probably called nostalgia. "After saying that, he said that he must bring some leeks home today, make some leek sauce, buy a piece of tofu, and let's have a beautiful drink..."
