Art comes from life and is higher than life. Qi Lao painted crabs, and he was as famous as he painted shrimp.
Qi Lao's painting of crabs, which took many years of observation, speculation and practice, was changed several times before it was finalized into the form we see now.
Qi Lao likes to draw crabs and also likes to eat crabs very much. One day of eating with his family, Elder Qi suddenly stopped and stared at the crabs on the plate with a deep breath, thoughtful. Madame saw the situation and asked why, Mr. Fang woke up like a dream, while pointing the crab leg to the lady, while eyebrows fluttering and dancing said: "Crab legs are flat and drummed, with edges and angles, and very people think of rolling circles, I paint crabs, pay attention." Since then, his crab legs have become more realistic, more powerful and angular.
When Qi Lao was in his fifties, the crab shell only drew a lump of ink, and he could not see the pen marks, and later changed a lump of ink into two strokes; when he was in his sixties, he changed to three strokes, regardless of the thickness, and still did not have the feeling of carapace; after the age of seventy, he drew the texture of the carapace. That is, with the "vertical three pieces" painting shell, its pen and ink are powerful, the ink color changes are rich, the nib is deep, the back is shallow, the transition between black and white gray is obvious, the layers are clear, the ink rhyme is rich and smooth, and it is very textured.
On the Internet, I downloaded all the ink crab works that Qi Lao could search for, repeatedly speculated, compared, and constantly observed the body structure and movement habits of crabs in life, and then summarized the method of Qi Lao's painting crabs, hoping to make a reference for the colleagues who like to paint Qi Pai ink crabs.
