The competition was hosted by the Panyu District Party Committee and the District Government, and co-hosted by the Guangzhou University Town Management Committee and Guangzhou Science and Technology Finance Comprehensive Service Center Co., Ltd. With the theme of "Gathering Youth, Creating a Leading Bay Area", the competition encourages young people from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to work together to realize their dreams on the broad stage of the Greater Bay Area.
This year's competition aims to implement the decision-making and deployment of the central government on promoting the construction of the Greater Bay Area and the construction of the "dual region" and the requirements of the provincial party committee and the municipal party committee on talent and innovation, comprehensively promote the development of youth innovation, entrepreneurship and employment in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, actively build a youth innovation and entrepreneurship employment platform, and promote the integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the cross-strait economy.

Compared with previous editions, this event has the following highlights:
The first is to keep abreast of the industrial development direction of the Greater Bay Area. This year's competition focuses on the development of the emerging industries "IAB" (new generation information technology, artificial intelligence, biomedicine) industry and the "NEM" industry (new energy, new materials) and the pillar industries of Panyu District (such as jewelry design, animation production, audio, etc.), with a high focus on innovation in artificial intelligence and digital economy. The organizers also put special emphasis on the combination of competition and industrial transformation, and set up competition fields, schedules and tracks according to the characteristics of young students in colleges and universities and the transformation of scientific research achievements.
The second is to increase the prize money and support of the event. The total prize amount of this event is 580,000, more than 1/4 of the total hosting cost of the event, which is the highest in the past. In addition to the awards of the competition, the Panyu District Government has made great efforts to support young people from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to come to Guangdong for employment and entrepreneurship, and has successively issued 11 policies to support young people in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, 1+4 industrial talent policies, the Qinglan Plan, and 20 innovation and entrepreneurship in Panyu Talent Town. Since 2017, Panyu District has issued more than 140 million yuan of subsidies to support talents including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and returnees, and has set up 7 demonstration sites for hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan youth innovation and entrepreneurship bases, such as the Guangdong-Macao Youth Innovation International Industry Accelerator and the Guangdong-Macao Youth Entrepreneurship Incubator, incubating more than 50 hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan innovation and entrepreneurship projects, sparing no effort to support the innovation and entrepreneurship of young college students, especially young people from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

The third is to innovate and enrich the form of holding events. In addition to the university student group and the enterprise growth group, the proposition unveiling group module has also been added. For the first time, the organizing committee of the event released the proposition of "Internet-based Shared Bicycle Intelligent Parking Management System", openly solicited solutions for the participating teams and innovative entities in society, and sought in-depth cooperation between industry, education and research, so as to establish a new model of combining competition and application with enterprises as the main body and market demand as the guide. In addition, the event also added a special auto roadshow race, and joined hands with GAC Group to create the "GAC Trumpchi Circuit", inviting high-quality project teams from previous competitions to participate. The participating teams and judges rode a lap on the designated track with the judges, and completed the roadshow during the driving process, bringing a novel competitive experience.
The fourth is to introduce high-quality resources from the municipal platform. The organizer of this competition is Guangzhou Science and Technology Finance Comprehensive Service Center Co., Ltd. As a subsidiary of Guangzhou Kejin Group, the company has strong strength and advantages in competition hosting, project cultivation, enterprise incubation, financing and venture capital. In addition to providing supporting services such as incubation services, policy support, professional entrepreneurial counseling, and scientific and technological financial services for the participating teams, the organizing committee of this competition also specially introduced the service resources of the three major operating platforms of Guangzhou Science and Technology Finance Group Science and Technology Park, Science and Technology Finance, and Scientific and Technological Innovation Services, comprehensively optimized the service system of the innovation and entrepreneurship platform of the competition, and created a one-stop full-chain service platform that integrates talents, science and technology, industry, capital and other elements to connect and dock.
It is understood that the Guangdong- Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan University Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, as a unique brand event in the Bay Area, has spanned 8 spring and autumn seasons since it was held in 2014, and has attracted more than 70 colleges and universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to participate, with a total of more than 2,800 high-quality projects participating, establishing an expert database of more than 200 entrepreneurial mentor alliances, maintaining close interaction and cooperation with hundreds of investment and financing institutions, and comprehensively leading and radiating the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the cross-strait entrepreneurial ecosystem.
