10. Peter Gulasi (RB Leipzig)

Signed from sister club Salzburg in 2015 Peter Gulasi is probably leipzig's wisest deal ever. Since joining the team for £2 million, the Hungarian has been a sensation in the six seasons since.

Tall, fast, excellent in the penalty area and a great goalscorer, Gulasi is arguably Germany's best goalkeeper. Of the regular starters, his 68% save percentage is the best in the league, but the fact that Leipzig's league best goal (only 25 in 31 games) has a lot to do with his organisational and communication skills. Stop capability.

Gulasi signed a new contract with Leipzig this week, keeping him at the club until 2025. Fans will be happy to know that a player who has just turned 31 obviously wants to end his career in Red Bull.

9. Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (Barcelona)

It's hard for the Germans to question a player with Manuel Neuer's experience and qualities, but when it comes to Ter Stegen, they have little choice. How can a player in Barca's No. 1 shirt be called a goalkeeper for the national team?

Like the older Neuer, Ter Stegen took the modern concept of goalkeepers to the next level. His feet were flawless and his task was to build a Barcelona match from behind.

After a less convincing start at Barcelona, Ter Stegen is now highly respected for his passing and goal-scoring abilities. For everyone at Barcelona, a few tough seasons – and the resurrection of Manuel Neuer (more about him) – mean he won't be Germany's number one at least next year. He will set his sights on the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

8. Keller Navas (Paris Saint-Germain)

Costa Rica has been a sensation among the sticks without a short PSG, as having joined Real Madrid in just £13M in 2019, helping clubs domestic highs in a COVID-raging 19/20 season, and the Champions League final last year.

The 34-year-old has conceded zero goals in 24 Ligue 1 games this season, second only to Lille's Mike Menion, with a passing completion rate of 85 percent, third in the division. As a great all-rounder, Keller Navas seems to only get better with age.

7. Samir Handanovic (Inter Milan)

Since joining Inter from Udinese nine years ago, the Slovenian has quietly established himself as Europe's top goalkeeper. Although he rarely received the international acclaim he deserved, his consistent performance made him a Legend of Milan. The Nerazzurri's first Serie A in 11 seasons was largely due to the lowest number of goals scored in the division. Handanovic's calm leadership is the key to success.

Calm, excellent communicators and excellent in the air, the 36-year-old goalkeeper is a goalkeeper type of goalkeeper who emphasizes defense above distribution. He finished second in the league with 72.1% saves in Serie A, behind Genova's Matt Perrin, while his 14 clean sheets were unmatched in Italian football.

5. Edward Mendy (Chelsea)

Unhappy with Kepa's performance last season, Chelsea moved quickly last summer to snap up former Rennes-ranked Edward Mendy. It turned out to be very inspiring for business, especially considering he spent £22 million on the Relatively Inexpensive Blues.

In his debut Premier League, Mendy is second in the division for both accurate passes and zero goals conceded – not bad for players who have mastered a new language in a new country.

Like all the best plugs, Mendy kept his best performances on the biggest stage. The 29-year-old proved the winning-loss tie in the champions league semi-final second leg against Real Madrid. While Chelsea were the better side all along, the Senegalese' lightning reaction prevented Karim Benzema from scoring twice. He has grown to become one of Europe's top goalkeepers at Stamford Bridge and will only improve next season.

4. Courtois (Real Madrid)

It seems interesting to think back to Thibault Courtois after joining Real Madrid in 2019, which seems a bit out of line. The Belgian overcame a bumpy start and reaffirmed his status as one of the most feared goalkeepers in world football, helping the team to la Liga glory last season and playing an important role in this year's title race.

The Belgian has the second-best save in La Liga, 76.6% of the attempts he faces are blocked and concedes only 24 goals in 34 games, ranking third in the division. Like the aforementioned Mendy, Courtois excelled in the Champions League semi-final second leg between Real Madrid and Chelsea. Without four or five incredible saves, the game would have been buried at the end of halftime. Those moments made the top goalkeeper stand out, and Courtois proved he belonged to that group. At just 28 years old, he's just at the peak of his career as a goalkeeper and may actually be improving.

He hopes to inspire Belgium to win the Title at Euro 2020 this summer.

3. Neuer (Bayern Munich)

Not so long ago, people talked about Manuel Neuer in the past tense. A player who finished third in the 2014 Ballon d'Or voting began struggling with a recurring foot injury late in the decade. The incident had an impact on Bayern and the German captain, leading to repeated requests that Neuer be replaced by Mark André Ter Stegen in the national team.

But all those doubts and worries were dispelled last season as Neuer – back to his confident best – inspired Bayern to win the treble. Neuer has the fifth-highest save rate and the highest pass completion rate in the German top flight, proving that he is a real asset in Bayern's attack and a good defender.

In his time, there was still no one better than Manuel Neuer.

2. Edson (Manchester City)

In an era when goalkeepers had to be involved in organizing the attack, few first-man could compete with City's Brazilian goalkeeper. Whether it's hitting Fernandinho for the first time between two charging attackers or hitting Raheem Sterling's big toe 60 yards away, Ederson is adept at keeping City ahead of the curve in any situation.

From a defensive point of view, he has also improved a lot this season. He was only 12th in saves last season, compared to third this semester. The 27-year-old is also the player with the most goals conceded in the Premier League so far this season, with 18 times.

1. Jan Oblac (Atletico Madrid)

Jan Oblak remains the benchmark for goalkeeper excellence. The Slovenes have conceded the fewest goals in La Liga this season as Atletico Madrid have led most of the season.

The Slovenian also has the highest save percentage in the league, with 84.2 percent trying to get out of danger, which is ridiculous. His 75 percent free throw save rate (from four attempts) is also a testament to his current aura – forwards shiver in their boots when they face each other with 6-foot-2 guards.

He's good at ball possession, good at the box, good at position, strong and good at communicating. No one else even approached.
