　　My grandfather was born in 1941 to a poor peasant family and is 80 years old this year. He worked as a coal miner all his life and was an old Communist Party member. He was industrious, simple, and kind, and joined the Communist Party of China at a young age because of his outstanding work achievements. As a coal miner, as the pillar of the family, the heavy work and ordinary life did not erase the party spirit of his grandfather, and he loved the party, respected the party, and believed in the party throughout his life.

　　Life gave Grandpa many tribulations. When Grandpa was very young, his home was hit by a fire, and a fire reduced their barely sheltered cottage to rubble, and the family had to live in a cave, relying on the kind help of neighbors and the hard work of the whole family. The children of the poor are in charge of the house early. Grandpa learned to weave straw shoes and do farm work when he was very young... Spring to autumn, the thin teenager of that year can already be alone. In 1966, Grandpa's parents passed away one after another, the 24-year-old grandfather bid farewell to his sister who was married to a wife, decided to find a way out of life, wearing new clothes and cloth shoes made by his sister, got on the train with dignity, and the train rumbled into Wansheng, where he got his first job in life and a life's work - digging coal.

　　At that time, the most traditional method of coal mining was used, this job was very hard, the coal digger had to go deep into the formation, could not distinguish between the southeast, the west, the east, the west, the night and the day, and even the you and me. But the young man in his twenties was not afraid of anything, full of energy. Every time he came out of the mine, he was black and pale, and a mouthful of white teeth was particularly eye-catching. Although the coal mining work is very hard, Grandpa always maintains an optimistic attitude and a positive spirit. It is precisely because of Grandpa's enthusiasm that Grandpa gloriously joined the Communist Party of China in the 8th year of work, and whenever he said this, Grandpa was always extremely excited and proud. Grandpa has the characteristic qualities of an old party member: love the party, respect the party, believe in the party, and protect the party. He spoke and did things conscientiously and responsibly, loved to recall the party's glorious history, cared about major state affairs, and actively supported the party's principles and policies. He often put the country's good on his lips, and the country's policy of benefiting farmers and the state's minimum guarantee policy were all talking points that Grandpa praised after tea and dinner. I remember that during the epidemic period, the family was very panicked, grandpa always said to believe in the party, to believe in the country, he also took the initiative to ask his uncle to use WeChat to help him donate. From my grandfather, I could feel the party spirit precipitated by a Communist Party member: perseverance, hard-working, optimism, loyalty to the party and patriotism.

　　Later, my father took over my grandfather's class and became a coal miner, striving to fulfill the mission of listening to the party and following the party all my life. With the progress of the times, in 2020, the Nantong Coal Mine where my father worked will be closed. Faced with unemployment, my father, who is nearly 50 years old, is somewhat depressed. But Grandpa's words deeply affected my father. Grandpa said: "The country wants to take the road of sustainable development, it is inevitable to close the coal mine, we will not dig the coal, in response to the call of the state, training and re-employment to master a skill, and then work is not also a good road?" Father nodded, packed up his mood, and embarked on the road of electrician...
