Synopsis: In the 1980s, a fat and ugly black girl named Clarice Jane Jones (Gabury Sitieby Gabourey Sidibe) lives with her tyrannical mother on handouts, and she names herself Cherished. At just 16 years old, she has a mentally handicapped daughter who is also two months pregnant, and the father of the children is the father who raped her. Cherish often fantasizes that she has a charming dance, a gorgeous stage, and a handsome boyfriend, and these only exist in her daydreams, and in reality, she not only has to endure the insults of outsiders, but also has to find a way to cope with the irony and difficulty of her own mother. It wasn't until she was dropped out of school and introduced to a one-on-one elective school, where she recognized several other problem girls and a teacher who made them write in a daily journal, Bruy Ryan. Zhen'ai slowly rekindled her enthusiasm for life, but she found herself infected with AIDS. In the gap between hope and misfortune, where will cherish go?

The film is based on Sapphire's novel Push. The 82nd Academy Awards won two awards for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress; the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival's highest award, the Audience Choice Award; and the 25th Sundance International Film Festival American Drama Jury Award and Audience Choice Award.
