History of Buddhism: The Tendai Sect of the Eight Historical Sayings of Chinese Buddhism is one recitation of three thousand sayings

The Tendai Sect of the Eight Historical Sayings of Chinese Buddhism:

The so-called one thought and three thousand, also known as one mind, refers to the shortest moment of mental activity; three thousand represents the sum of all good and evil, sexual equality, and differences between things in the world and in the afterlife. One thought of three thousand is to say, in the next thought of an ordinary person, it has the dharma phases of three thousand worlds. In the thought of the Gaitendai Sect, regardless of whether the three natures are leaked or not, it is said that Jie'er has the three thousand worldly enlightenments and all the laws without lack. The Mahāyāyāna Scroll vyo: "One mind has ten Dharma realms, and one Dharma realm has ten Dharma realms and one hundred Dharma realms; one realm has thirty worlds, and the hundred Dharma realms have three thousand worlds." These three thousand are in one mind, and if there is no mind, there are three thousand if there is a mind. Nor does it say that one mind is in front and all the Dhamma is behind; nor does it say that all the Dhamma is in the front and the whole mind is in the back. "One of the thoughts that we sentient beings arise day and night must belong to one of the ten realms of the Fa, such as the realm of hell corresponding to the realm of killing, etc.; the realm of hungry ghosts if it corresponds to greed; the realm of the human world if it corresponds to the moral law of humanity; and the realm of Buddhahood if it corresponds to the realm of truth. Therefore, this thought corresponds to a certain realm, and this mind is in a certain realm, and the mind of one of these beings is mutually integrated with all the dharmas, so there must be ten realms in one realm. At the same time, each of the ten realms has its own ten realms, becoming a hundred realms. This hundred realms have ten such things (such as sex, such as phases, such as body, such as force, such as doing, such as causes, such as conditions, such as effects, such as retribution, such as the end of the end, etc.), that is, thousands of such things, and then with the five yin, sentient beings, and the three worlds of the land, that is, these three thousand worlds are sufficient in one thought.

In these ten such things, the body is the essence, the sexual attribute, the phase is the appearance, the force is the ability, the action is the effect, the cause is the internal factor, the condition is the external condition, the effect is the direct achievement, the service is the indirect consequence, and the end is the three truths of the void that is the same from the body to the retribution. For example, as far as the five yin worlds are concerned, the three worlds of hell, hungry ghosts, and animals take suffering as the phase, fixed evil gathering as sex, destroying the body and mind as the body, the above sword mountain into the sea of fire as the force, the ten unwholesome karma as the cause, the leakage of karma as the cause, the love as the cause, the evil habit as the result, the three evil pleasures as the reward, and the delusion as the end. The same is true of the other three virtuous paths and the four noble positions, and the same is true of the ten such things as each other to become a thousand ru, and the rest of the land world and the world of sentient beings are equally sufficient to become three thousand worlds.

The one-minded mind of our mortal beings arises from the consciousness of self-seeing and clinging to these three thousand as if it were the root of consciousness. These three thousand are like the sea, and the one-thought consciousness is like a wave of the sea, and the waves and the sea are inseparable. The purpose of our study of the Dharma is to be able to attain enlightenment into the sea from this wave. Therefore, the Tendai Sect's view is to realize the three thousand such things as alaya consciousness from the consciousness of one thought, so it is called one thought and three thousand. Because when A thought arises, the mind must belong to any of the ten realms, and if it belongs to one realm, it has a hundred realms and a thousand worlds, so it is said that there are three thousand worlds in one thought. The so-called one-one-three-thousand have the two meanings of reasoning and the creation of things, the so-called rationalizer, that is, the reason of one mind must have three thousand worlds, the so-called creator of things, there are two meanings of smoking habits and realization, and the smoking habits are in the case of the three lifetimes, from the past habits to the present, from the past and the present to the future. So beginningless and present and even created in the future world, and all karma does not come from the hundreds and thousands of worlds, this so-called one-minded thing creates three thousand worlds. Realization is that in the present life, the realization of the mind is different from the realization of the mind according to the confusion of common karma, everything is there for a reason, everything is empty with the heart, and there is a difference between fear, love, affection, and disgust in the world. All the things that are smoked and realized are made of three thousand, and they are all made of three thousand. If the director is only one three thousand, separated by righteousness, this matter is harmonious, that is, one and not two, so it is said: there is no outside, the whole refers to the rational manufacturing, the matter is created without the outside, and the whole refers to the rational tool.
