Make cakes, grind soy milk, pick citrus... International students visit Chongming, and feel the new countryside in the farmhouse

"This is my first time in the countryside of Shanghai." "It's too short a time to stay!" ...... Last Saturday, a group of students studying in Shanghai were still unfinished after a day trip in Chongming.

On December 19th, the School of Journalism of Fudan University organized a Chinese cultural investigation activity for international students, walking into the Countryside of Chongming and experiencing Chinese culture in rural production and life. International students from Spain, Panama, Italy, Taiwan and other countries and regions have harvested a lot after a day of rural work.

In a farm in Chongming Beishuang Village, international students sat around, rolled up their sleeves, tried to make noodles and roll out the dough for the first time, and made cakes and wrapped dumplings like a decent model, and the music and laughter continued. Some people were amazed by the hidden cooking skills of their friends, and some people excitedly said: "It feels like the New Year is ahead of schedule!" ”

What makes this group of international students unforgettable is the process of grinding soy milk by hand. At first, the teams encountered various problems. "Why don't you see the juice when you see the okara?" International student Emma and her partner's friends are very confused. On the other hand, Monica's group grinds out the immediacy of "milk bubbles". After mastering the ratio of soybeans to water and the direction of grinding stones, a large basin of fresh soy milk was finally ground.

When the fragrant soy milk is cooked, the dumplings and cakes are also on the table. After tasting the fruits of their labor, the international students came to Huaxi Village in Luhua Town, visited the Village History Museum, systematically understood the development changes and governance models of Huaxi Village in the past 49 years, and truly felt the beautiful vision of the development of new rural areas.

Most of the more than 6,000 mu of arable land is planted with citrus, and the villagers rely on growing citrus to get rich. So, the international students walked into the citrus grove and experienced the joy of a bumper harvest.

Before this cultural expedition, "Chongming" was a strange word for many international students. Simona, from Italy, is a graduate student at fudan journalism school this year. She said that she went to Huangpu District the most in Shanghai, and during her graduate school years, she also followed her teacher to visit Yangpu and Hongkou, but she had never heard of Chongming Island, let alone that Shanghai also had villages. "This time I experienced the rural culture of Shanghai. Contrary to what you might think, the countryside here is new! ”

Breathing the fresh air of the countryside, embracing the fruits of victory picked by yourself, walking on the clean and tidy cement road in the countryside, admiring the beautiful courtyards of every household and the chic pictures of the flowing water of the small bridges, chongming's ecological beauty, rural poetry, and special cuisine have become the most vivid image of Chinese countryside in the hearts of international students.
