Photographing the people and things around you, taking root in the most basic level, and making every shutter become warm, this is a phrase that Mr. Yao Liangbao, a senior photographer, often says.
After winning the honor of Outstanding Photographer of the Pingyao International Photography Festival (the only one in Anhui) in 2015 with his documentary work "Fathers and Fellow Villagers", Yao Liangbao, who is over 60 years old, has no less passion for creation, and constantly uses the lens in his hand to record the pictures that made him move and have temperature. This group of "Bridge Builders" was filmed by him on several trips to a local bridge construction site last year.
The famous writer Luo Huixiang commented after looking at it: Photography is a technology or an art, and it has been debated endlessly. My view is that it is technology that is solved with equipment, and art that is solved with the mind. Mr. Yao Liangbao's "Bridge Builder" is a combination of technology and art, and here we do not talk about technology, only about art. To put it simply, this group of "Bridge Builders" was shot with the mind, and there must have been expected ideas before shooting, and there were new ideas during and after shooting, so in many repeated shootings, they completed their own creations.
I say that I shot it with my head because this group of films has thoughts and connotations, and the pride, tenacity and fortitude of the workers are vividly reflected in each photo, which shows the photographer's reverence and touching heart. As a member of the CPPCC Committee and the person in charge of the grass-roots power supply unit in Lu'an City for two consecutive terms, Lao Yao has deep feelings for the workers' brothers. He took his grandson into the construction site to create, and the workers put on his hard hats, and he was extremely kind, because he used to climb high and low with a hard hat at the grassroots level, and he worked for decades to build a power supply.
This group of works he used the Sigma DP0Q and Panasonic FZ1000 shooting, both low-cost ordinary digital, compared to those well-equipped photographers around, it looks inconspicuous, but it is wonderful and moving.
Art comes from life, and only by taking root in the grassroots and taking root in the people can we create masterpieces worthy of the times. "Bridge Builder" allows the viewer to see the hard work and simplicity of the builders.
