The ancestors of the Wei clan were descendants of Bi Gonggao. Bi Gonggao and Zhou Tianzi have the same surname. After King Wu cut down the forest, Gao was enfeoffed in Bi, so he took Bi as his clan. His descendants interrupted their knighthood and became commoners, some in the Central Plains, some exiled to Yidi. His descendants had a man named Bi Wan, who served the Duke of Jin.

In the sixteenth year of the Reign of Emperor Xian (661 BC), Zhao Su drove with Bi Wan as the right guard of the car and went to requisition Huo, Geng, and Wei and destroy them all. Xiangong gave Geng to Zhao Su and Wei to Bi Wan, and both became doctors.

Eleven years after Bi Wan's canonization, Xiangong died, and his four sons competed with each other for the throne, and the Jin dynasty was in turmoil. And Bi Wan's descendants are more and more, and their country name is Wei. Bi Wan gave birth to Wei Wuzi.

Wei Wuzi served the Prince of Jin as a son of the Wei clan. In the twenty-first year of the reign of Duke Xian, Wei Wuzi went into exile with Zhong'er, and when he returned to China nineteen years later, Chong'er took the throne as duke wen of Jin, allowing Wei Wuzi to inherit the title of wei's descendants and rise to the status of doctor. Wei Wuzi gave birth to Wei Mourning.

Wei Mourning gave birth to Wei Chen. Wei Dai served the Duke of Jin. Duke Mo appointed Wei Dai to reconcile with Rong and Di, and Rong and Di were close to the Jin state from then on.

Wei Dai gave birth to Wei Ying, and Wei Ying gave birth to Wei Xianzi. Wei Xianzi served the Duke of Jin. After the death of Duke Zhao, the six secretaries of the Jin dynasty became stronger, and the office declined. Wei Xianzi gave birth to Wei Luxury.

Wei Luxury's grandson was Wei Huanzi, who, together with Han Kangzi and Zhao Xiangzi, fought to eliminate Zhibo.

Huanzi's grandson was Marquis Wei of Wei. Wenhou was contemporaneous with Han Wuzi and Zhao Huanzi.

In the seventeenth year of Wen Hou's reign, he attacked the Zhongshan Kingdom and sent his son Wei To garrison it.

In the twenty-second year of Wenhou (403 BC), the three families of Wei, Zhao and Korea were divided into Jin.
