The Biggest Obstacle to Everyone's Growth: DBM (Deceptive Brian Message)

author:Sen tribe

During this time, when I was "encouraging" everyone to be "hands-on", I found that our old friend DBM (deceptive Brian message) appeared around again, and at the same time woke me up, and I began to mix common sense with knowledge again.

For me, DBM is common sense, but for many students, only to hear me mention once or twice, DBM is just a concept, or there is no "knowledge point" to learn, or even do not feel how important, most of them may be forgotten. Use "micro-sharing" today to remind you.

DBM Chinese can be translated as "deceptive brain information," a term derived from a book called "You are not your brain," which reminds everyone that "you are not your brain."

It seems that I have often mentioned "common sense" and "knowledge" recently, and we work according to our "habits", which are the "common sense" hidden in our brains. Many times, many of our "common sense" is "outdated", "misunderstanding", and "inefficient".

The Biggest Obstacle to Everyone's Growth: DBM (Deceptive Brian Message)

But without you realizing it, these "common sense" begins to direct you to make all kinds of inefficient decisions and behaviors, and this kind of "common sense" can be called DBM.

It seems that more than a decade ago, I started "playing" with online social media like Weibo. At the beginning, there was a lot of resistance, because I always thought that I couldn't "write" things, especially Chinese, I couldn't even type, and when I saw that Weibo was writing 144 words, I thought it was a fantasy.

With all kinds of "encouragement" by people, I gradually learned to type, and I actually wrote two books later, and now I am writing "micro-sharing" every day. In my example, writing is one of my previous DBMs. We can even conclude that DBM is the biggest "obstacle" to a person's growth, and if you don't find a DBM one day, you may have been "recruited" one day.

Fortunately, this book not only asks questions, but also provides solutions.

I should have mentioned it before, but it has long been "forgotten knowledge", so I have to start again today. I also recommend that students who write "three good and one change" write DBM next to "one change" when writing "one change", so as to remind everyone to find a DBM every day and greatly strengthen your understanding of DBM. Solving DBM is also a four-step process:

1)relabel

2)reframe

3)refocus

4)revalue

The 4 steps are all "re" for the "beginning", and I think re is "tearing down and starting over". If a DBM is found, the first step is to "relabel" and then "re-frame", the third "re-focus", and finally "re-see the root of the behavior".

The Biggest Obstacle to Everyone's Growth: DBM (Deceptive Brian Message)

Let's give an example. You were going to participate in a group discussion when suddenly a "friend" called and said that he was waiting for you to drink and chat with a few buddies at the bar downstairs. In the past, it was your main part of life, and calling friends was the number one thing, putting everything down and running.

But now that you've made up your mind to learn and change your life trajectory, your friend summons this thing to "relabel" it, it is no longer the number one thing, and then "reframe" this thing, that is, compare this thing with group learning, it is easy to know which thing is the big thing.

"Refocusing" is to use this opportunity to examine what you should do, whether you should invest time to improve yourself or drink with friends, this step clearly tells you whether you have deviated. Finally, take a good look at the "call of friends", where the meaning of this matter is, and whether it matches the life goal you hope to work towards.

Above I used a relatively simple example to illustrate how to solve the PROBLEM of DBM. Both authors of this book are experts in brain science, and if you are interested in brain science, you can look at this book to see, which should be much better than my explanation.

How do you find your OWN DBM? The next time you open your mouth and say "difficult", "no", "inconvenient", these will most likely come from your DBM. If you don't believe it, you can find a DMB today and write it in "Three Good one Change", I will go to find these DMBs tomorrow to see who writes the best.
