Cui Fangchun 丨 Life Force

Original Cui Fangchun text/figure Shandong Financial Literature Today
On the 5th day after the frost festival, I walked in the Thousand Buddha Mountain and saw several plants that were not afraid of the cold wind and the frost, and stood majestically in the crevices of the rocks. There are cypresses, wattles, dates, and some small flowers and grasses that cannot be named.

They are about 1 foot tall and less than 2 inches short. The thick diameter is just over 1 cm, and the thin one is only two or three millimeters. Some branches are high and tall; some cling to the rock formations and crawl on the ground; some are dark purple in color and thick in stems; some have withered leaves at the upper end, but the roots are full of vitality...
A jujube tree with a bent body, branches close to the rock surface, a crown circumference of about 8 centimeters, drilled out of the transverse stone crevices, is estimated not to have grown in two or three years and cannot grow into its current appearance. I reached into the half-long twig and didn't even reach its roots.
A thorn strip about 20 centimeters high emerges from a large exploded stone and emerges from the body. Although the branches and seeds are dry and leafy, the lower half is still lush and emerald green, and it is shiny. I used the branches to pull at the roots, without pulling out a little soil.
A plant with a diameter of no more than 3 millimeters and a height of seven or eight centimeters was yellowish, folding its weak body back and forth twice, and in a daze it came out of the stone crevice slag, stretching its neck to find the sun. That posture is really powerful.
A seedling is also inches high, only a dozen leaves, from the wool construction seam cement sand grows out of the cypress, if not careful, can not see its existence, but it has at least grown in the spring, summer, autumn and winter for a cycle.
A medicinal plant "monk's vegetable", which was supposed to grow in moist and thick soil, grew in a stone crevice on the slope of Chaoyang Mountain. The cold frost changed its color, and the cold wind destroyed its stems and leaves, but it still held its head high and struggled upwards.
They, when they were born, and where did they come from? They are still alive and dead, and their future is uncertain. In the end, it must be either falling, or drifting, or traveling with birds, or migrating with human activities, only to have their own "home", to have a small living place of hard rock crevices.
They, with their bumpy fate and sinister environment, lack the embrace of the land, the kiss of nature and the comfort of human beings in their lives. It may have suffered from a severe drought that did not drip for several months and the impact of heavy rainfall for several consecutive days; it may have suffered from a high temperature of sixty degrees Celsius and a severe winter of minus twenty degrees Celsius; it may have encountered the pressure of human activities again and again, and the countless injuries and baptisms of nature.
They stand still, silently silent, positive, with the indomitable spiritual fire, relying on thin and delicate bodies, in places where human beings are difficult to survive, they take root, sprout long leaves, blossom and bear seeds, showing the unshakable determination to live and the hope of life.
This is the power of life!
